Honestly, I dont believe that has any relevance. The NCAA tourney is all about individual match ups on a night by night basis. They have 3 teams that made the elite 8 and the Big 12 none. SO what... it isnt a fair conference comparison, and I would say that if the numbers were reversed.

it was amazing the amount of **** talking happening on facebook by hok fans when the number 2 big ten team beat the number 6 big 12 team.

good job, want a cookie. I would hope your conference wasn't that much suck.

The top teams in the Big 10 > the top teams in the Big 12.
The Big 12 overall > 0the Big 1 overall.

They were very even this year. You can't completely base which conference is better on just the NCAA tourney alone. Too many variable like seeding, injuries, locations, matchups, etc.
If ISU got a 2 seed in place of Michigan or Wisconsin (which ISU was very deserving) who's to say ISU isn't in the Elite 8 and the team ISU replaces doesn't lose earlier?

For example, TT > Purdue

For example, TT > Purdue

Or Purdue > WV (a game that actually happened)

Last place team in the big ten beating 7th place team in the big 12 on their home court, but keep buying into the top to bottom argument.

Keep clinging to the good teams in your conference as some sort of validation as to why Iowa matters.

Hilarious coming from an ISU fan, notorious Big 12 clingers come time for football season.

At least Iowa basketball has had success in my lifetime, while ISU has never won anything ever in football.

The big 12's top 2 teams both had pretty major injuries to overcome. Not to mention the big 12 got hosed on seeding, with only one team seeded to go to the elite 8(Compared to 2 for the B10).

Had Niang/Embiid not gone down I think the B12 had a great shot at getting 2 teams into the elite 8.

This.

You also have to remember injures matter. 2 of the top Big 12 teams were without key players. MSU is now healthy and playing a lot better, this isn't the same team Iowa beat.

Or another game that actually happened, the #4 Big 12 team beating the #1 Big 10 team.

You know you're argument is garbage when you have to run away to another sport to deflect attention away from why you're stupid.

Good job, you rep that fan base very well.

I don't get why an Iowa fan is here pumping up the top big ten teams who we all agree are good ( just not good enough to win at hilton). The reason Iowa was an 11 seed is the couldn't beat bad big ten teams.

I think he's really bad at math and doesn't realize 7th out of 10 is near the bottom. OK State and WVU finished near the bottom of the Big 12. 70% of the Big 12 was worthy of an NCAA tournament invite and top 45 rpi. I don't think anyone was claiming the Big 12 had the most NC worthy teams, we had the highest % of tournament worthy teams and it wasn't close.

How did they have better seeding? Ksu and okie state were 9 seeds, supposed to lose. Only Kansas didn't live up to their seed, other than ou ALL the rest of the teams played to their seed.

I know the horrible Iowa fans are trying to cling for dear life to the idea that somehow they matter because there were three good teams in that league. But 4 through 6 got beaten in the first round, and the rest of the conference was mediocre to outright bad.

7 teams in the Big 12 with an average seed of 5.86
6 teams in the Big 10 with an average seed of 6.00

It is very clear what program has been better the last 25 years in basketball. The thing is as long as Fred is coach in Ames, ISU will have a shot at the National Title in Basketball. The same cannot be said for Iowa football.

There are a lot of things to consider. It just comes down to if you think a good conference is about good teams all the way through, or the # of national title contenders. The answer is crystal clear either way.

Even if Niang and Embiid don't get injured the Big Ten had 3 title contenders to the Big 12's 2. In reality with those two injuries it was probably 0 to 3. There's simply no way to argue that the bottom half of the Big Ten wasn't much worse than the bottom half of the Big 12, the Big 12's bottom half was loaded with NBA draft picks and tournament teams. One league was clearly better at the top, one league was clearly better 1-10 or 1-12.

Iowa had a realistic shot at a football national title in 2009 until Stanzi went down. Just as much of a shot as isu bball.

I think a good way to look at it is did the teams play to seed. As a conference the Big Xii played to a -2 rounds. (i.e. 1 seed should be a final four, 2 seed elite 8. 3,4 seeds sweet sixteen 5-8 should win thier first game. on average that means they played out just short of expectations.

Not too bad with 3 star players getting hurt and out for the rest of the tournament. KU is almost always over-rated and most years the rest of the Big XII does well to overcome their early exit. But Baylor was good for a +1 and ISU overcame losing Georges to play to seed.

Currently, The Big 10 is as healthy as its been all year. They should play past their seeds. I think that they will. They are currently even and playing exactly to seed level with 3 opportunites to play past seeding. Pretty good but considering The improved health and re-acclimation to new (imo equal) players (Michigan) it isn't a surprise at all. They are almost exactly what everyone thought. Big XII deeper and better overall, but BIG 10 right there and very top heavy.
