NO WAY Texas goes to the SEC. OU maybe, but not UT. They may go independent, but most likely will stay in the Big 12.
Texas split up the SWAC, the Big 12 is going down this same path.

My impression of this Matt P . . is he is VERY, VERY immature. The scorn, contempt, and ridicule he spews against ISU is so junior high.

If he thinks he can build audience by slamming ISU day in and out . . more power to him. We all know he has issues with ISU and Pollard. I will never forget how he giggled at ISU's hiring of Hoiberg . . and how Walters slapped him down like the little twirp he is. So Matt P . . we all know you troll CF . . get lost you little punk.

I agree that Perrault is a PUNK....And if I ever hear of any clone fans regurgitating his PUNK-TALK...

Im gonna tell em what I think of them eyeball to eyeball...NOT MUCH....

As far as Ken Miller goes....He's just as bad and at his age is a BIGGER PUNK THAN PERRAULT......

They can both go to H-E-....Double LL......

She's 1700 to me boys and from what I hear good old Martha is kicking the botox of the "down-the-dial boys at 1460!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD FOR YOU MARTHA KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.......

Texas is 99.99999% likely not going to the SEC. The SEC's lower academic standards would work to the detriment of U TX recruiting. The 'Horns experienced this situation before with the SWC, and did not prosper -- they were an average program there due to the cheating ways of SMU, Baylor, TCU, et al. Give the SEC teams an open door to Texas recruiting and watch the 'Horns go downhill -- of course recruits would rather not go to class if they don't have to. Joining the SEC would just be a terrible business decision for the U of TX -- they're far more likely to go to the Big Ten instead, or go independent. That being said, the 'Horns are at least 90% likely to stay in the Big 12 -- they have the most favorable situation of any they could move to.

IMO if Mizzou and NU go to the Big 10, Texas to the SEC will happen. Then as I have been saying, the remnants of the Big 12 go to the MWC to make a powerful conference (including OU and OSU) with 16 teams including Boise State.

powerful conference with zero tv market. within 5 years left behind by the 4 major conferences money wise. get real and think about what drives college sports these days and no MWC based conference is ever going to be "powerful" for long.

Remember Pollard has been telling us one thing over and over, the overall level of ISU in sports across the board is now up in the top 20 in competition. Think about it. Jamie knows all along it is going to be about how good is the school in academics, research, mens and WOMENS sports. I think our AD has been trying to position ISU for what ever the future holds for us. We are very attractive because of the quality of the whole. I know we are not the huge TV market that everyone drools over. We are still in a good one. Our engineering and vet grads are everywhere(we travel to bowl games well). It would make sense this would keep us in the mix.

agree until this. we are probably one of the least attractive TV market teams in all of the BCS conferences. That doesn't mean we don't have value but to try to state otherwise is really rewriting the facts.

Another thought if Mizzou leaves the Big 12 and maybe Nebraska. Considering how much Las Vegas love their Running Rebels, why hasn't the addition of UNLV to an expanded Big 12 been discussed? LV is a huge TV market close to the size of DFW. I would think for TV dollars, UNLV would be a huge add for any Big 12 Network plans.

Not a bad Idea. Airfare would be cheap also.

I guess that I dont have a problem with adding UNLV.....

What I would like explained to me is ....What are the remaining schools gonna do about the "Texas Problem"??

The last thing I want to see is more "Texas Schools" added to the big 12 ...aka becoming more of a Glorified Southwest Conference.....

IS FOR THE BIRDS BOYS................

There is a lot that is wrong with this statement.

First, how do you figure Las Vegas has a TV market close to the size of DFW?

Just look at the 2009 and 2010 Nielsen rankings: Nielsen Media Research Television Markets listed numerically courtesy of the Master Station Index at TVJobs.com

DFW is 5th and Las Vegas is 42nd. These are nowhere near the same. Further, St. Louis is the 21st TV market and Kansas City is the 32nd. Losing Missouri and those TV markets would do a lot of damage that just UNLV could not replace.

Second, their facilities are god awful and they are less than competitive in the MWC in football and decent in basketball. What makes you think they would be relevant in the Big XII?

Third, UNLV's academics are something that would likely be looked at by the Big XII. While not all existing members are members of the AAU it can reasonably be stated they would likely add someone with a quality research background. UNLV is not this.

And fourth, fan support? What fan support? Maybe for basketball, but not for the money train of football.

I just hope you were being sarcastic. Otherwise you just had the worst post out of all the expansion threads.

Agreed on the UNLV fan support. No one shows up to their football games and their stadium's capacity is somewhere around 30k. Their basketball support is also extremely fickle, however so is a lot of the Big 12 South teams....take OK for example. If you're looking out west, BYU is the obvious choice, hands-down.

I think if Mizzou and Nebraska leave to join the Big 10 we should just switch conference names with them.

Boom. Done.

Disagree. IF the conference loses Texas and ATM, they are not finished. They'd quickly bring in Houston and TCU to still cover the TX market. Then they'd go after teams like BYU, La Tech, CSU, NIU, Louisville to eat up as much of a TV market as they could. Yeah, the conference wouldn't be as powerful, but they would probably have a better TV package and likely make more money after the negotiations. I mean, no conference with OU and NU in it is going to be without a BCS bid. That conference right now would be better than the current Big East or MWC (who will have a bid soon enough).

I still believe that Beebe will have the legwork done to present to the conference ADs what they can expect from a new TV contract and a Big 12/Pac 10 network. I think that Nebraska and Mizzou can be convinced to stay. CU, I think would take LESS money to get out of the conference and away from the South schools.

Your comparing Houston and TCU to Texas and Texas A&M!!!!!

I can see you have never been to texas ....

If you think anyone is gonna tune in to see Houston and TCU play each other ...Well then my boy you've got another think acoming as they say in Texas!!!

Try to sell a natl TV game of houston v tcu on thanksgiving nite and the tv execs will laugh you right outta the building....

Believe it boys If The Texas Longhorns leave the big 12 it will cease to exist in the minds of everyone in this country except maybe the states like Kansas, Central Iowa (i know its not a state but its the big 12 footprint in iowa) oklahoma and thats about it with NU & Mizzou gone to the big 10!!!!!

Mark my words boys its not gonna be good if texas moves on to the big 10 or the sec....

Ques to Nebraska...Why would you want to move to the big 10?...

Answer was...Because We er Nebraska dont trust Texas U and we here at nebraska dont want to be held HOLDING THE BAG.....

Thats what the guy said on the radio....

Why are so many people thinking the SEC is in play for U Texas? From a Longhorn recruiting perspective, joining the SEC would be a very bad business decision, as the SEC's lower academic standards would give those schools an unfair competitive advantage. UT was in a similar situation with the old SWC and they were an average football program after Darrell Royal left. If I were UT being offered to join the SEC, my response would be, "No thank you, been there, done that, didn't prosper." UT does have the academic cred to join the Big Ten however. I can see UT joining the Big Ten. Even so, UT's best situation is remaining in the Big 12 and being in total control.
