But really, let's be honest. Vying for the Big12 north when ISU did...although it has a nice ring, it wasn't that prestigious. Not sour grapes, and I'd love to claim a north title, but let's not give too much credit for that.

Teams have up and down years. Hard to say TCU, WV or anyone has surplanted OU or Texas for any amount of time. Baylor does seem to have established themselves a bit however. OSU was on the verge of a BCS championship game 3 seasons ago. Now they're middle of the road. KU was a BCS team, now celler dweller. We were a thread a decade ago to make the conference championship, now look at us.

As I said, OU lost some games. Texas is in the infancy of a new era with a coach who kicked out half his starters seemingly at the beginning of the year.

Hardly a "shift" IMO.

OU is just fine. They lost to two good teams -- one on the road by 4 points, the other at home after two fluke missed kicks.

Way up there
Okie st had been the best program the last 5 years prior to this year. Even this year they have losses to all rated teams. TCU had some awful luck with injuries and suspensions their first 2 years in the conference but this roster was getting big 12 talent before they were in the league, it was just really young. The round robin doesn't allow for an easy year every now and then, its tough for anyone to make up ground in this brutal schedule.

The winningest team in league play since round robin, past 4 years, has been K-State.

Didn't K-State finish the regular season #1 in the late 90s and then was upset in the B12 Championship game? They appeared in 2 BCS Bowl games. They aren't new to being good.

Edit: Looked it up, it was 1998. Beat by Texas A&M in Championship Game.

1998 K-State lost to aTm in the league championship game or would have played winner Tennessee for the national championship; that was Michael Bishop's team; and also the team that Stoops and Mangino bolted from (championship game week) for OU.

2012 K-State lost to Baylor in the last game of the year or would have played ND for the national championship eventually won by Alabama.

TCU and K-State have been solid for a long time. Baylor not so much, I agree. The fact UT is not good is because they chose to fire coach Brown. OU is just not hitting on all cylinders this year for some reason. That's a tough out though. You'll see shortly.
I would argue that Texas got so bad because they kept Mac for too long. Though if they had kept him another year or two, Saban may have been available. Either way, Texas has another down year at least before Charlie gets his system in place. That or he is out after not making a bowl this year.

Not sure how long it will last, but it's crazy that TCU, KSU and Baylor are by far the best 3 programs in the conference.

Any P5 team located in Texas has the potential to do what bu and tcu are doing if they have the right leadership...and they do. Ksu has a genius witch in charge.

There's no way to know, obviously. But I was totally unimpressed with UT Saturday. And I've never been taken with all the hoopla over Strong running off players. WTFChuck did that quite successfully at KU.

Let's face it. Charley Strong tough love has not made for a better team than last year. They basically suck.

Well, not always...

That's actually all I got.

Yeah, 2007 was essentially the only time we've had a chance against OU in my lifetime. We probably would have won that game if we had a fullback who could gain some ground in short yardage situations (gee, something that still plagues us even to this day). Instead, we had Jason Scales ramming himself into the line on 3rd and 4th and short plays and not getting anywhere. I also remember Sam Bradford flat out missing wide open receivers running around in the secondary.
