I wouldn't mind following all of the rules of the road if once in awhile I'd see groups of bikes following the rules like they're supposed to.

I have a hard time believing that you've never witnessed bicyclists following the rules, or that you know the rules well enough to recognize every instance in which they're obeyed or disobeyed.

Yes, because all drivers follow the rules of the road. I'd better let my son know his law enforcement dream is a dying profession

I hear this all the time.. I bike and I drive. Yes I see some bikers break the law. But people in cars do the same thing. At the same rate. Hell probably higher since their are more of them out there.

I've failed to see the extremely high number of bikers everyone say they see breaking the law daily.

But hey... I see my neighbor stealing so it's OK that I steal is about the argument you get on this topic.

Unless you're eight and your bike has a little honk-honk horn on it, you should not be riding your bicycle on a sidewalk.

Just think about all of the seconds that drivers will lose in getting to their destination though. I mean, if you're going from your crappy cookie cutter in Johnston to Jordan Creek mall in your Toyota Siena it could be the difference between nabbing that hot new Gnaw by Vera Wang flat you've had your eye on at Payless or looking super janky at the next 31 bag party at your newly divorced friends new condo.

Indisputable evidence at just how hard life in the 1st world really is.

These things are magnified greatly when the smart phone won't connect to the internet on the same day.

Bikers always want to share the road but never want to share the rules. Love following a biker at 7 mph and them watching them blow through all the stop signs.

Not true, not always. There are a lot of bikers who follow the rules, even follow the rules better than the majority of motorists. There are bad cyclists just like there are bad drivers. You give the example of stopping at stop signs. It is true that many cyclists don't come to a complete and total stop at an otherwise unoccupied intersection. It is also true that many drivers do not either. It is okay for a segment of motorists to do it but when some cyclists do it "bikers never want to share the rules?"

They have no answer for it. I've heard that same crap put out so many times and refuted just as quick. "Bikers roll thru stop signs" Please, lose count on the number of cars rolling thru stop signs or right on red or going 10 - 15 over the posted speed limit.

In all seriousness, as an avid biker, I don't like the law. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense for cars to take a full star lane, and they're safer taking a narrower pass. I don't ride on the road much, and when I do, I stick as far to,the shoulder as possible, because "share the road" is a two way street. By the same token, when I come upon bikers, I slow down and give them the space I can. Drawing a hard, fast, punishable rule for space in every situation seems counter productive.

Bikers are just liberal hippy communists. Trying to rule the world. Let's dump them all in a mass grave along with the and idiots that think the world is magically getting warmer.

Easy big guy, some of em are clinging to their guns and religion like me. We ain't all liberal hippies.

To me, this has more to do with passing zones than getting all the way into the other lane. Trying to pass a bike in a no passing zone is just as dangerous as another car.

So if bikes have to follow all traffic laws just as if they were cars or motorcycles, why wouldn't cars end to follow the same laws when passing that they do for all other vehicle's? You must pass only in a passing zone and move to the other lane to get around.

I've lived over 60 years on this planet and I've YET to see a bicyclist move ALL THE WAY OVER into the left lane to pass another bicyclist on any road or street.

I ride 2-3 times a week in the spring/summer and I mostly stick to the trails. The comments and opinions out there are absolutely scary if you're a cyclist, it's just not worth riding on the road for me if I can help it. I've had multiple times where I was riding on the road for 2 miles to the nearest trail and had people yell at me, fly past me, and just overall make some awful decisions all while I'm trying to do exactly what many here are asking of cyclists. If only I had a trail starting in my back yard.

I want to reiterate what a few others have said here about some cyclists not following the rules. It drives me insane as it just continues to perpetuate a negative stigma and allows generalities to be made and it's obviously dangerous.

No where in my post did I say roll, they blow through stop signs. As in just keep peddling like there's nothing there.

There's also a significant difference in the impact on traffic between 10 over the speed limit and 30 mph below the speed limit...
