Seems if a kid says he's entering the portal during the season, he's raising the white flag and doesn't want to go through the practice and prep.

Not a fan of a kid quitting during the season. Never know when a rash of position injuries occur. But this does allow Blake to get his me out early and some schools might prefer him to a HS or JUCO fall signee.
It's definitely not a good look. I mean, there are 3 games left. Why not finish it out and enter the portal in December? You've got to finish your classes anyway. There should be portal windows (maybe there already are) where you can enter after the season December/January and after spring practice May/June. If you enter any other time, you are sitting a year.

I'd be shocked if Peterson doesn't end up at SDSU/USD/UND/NDSU.

We need to do whatever it takes to keep Rasheed. I don't care if that means we make him HC one day. That team would maul people.
I often watch him coaching the DL when they take the bench, love his passion and how he keeps coaching the entire game!

Semi-related - love seeing Ray Lima on staff, working w/ Coach Rasheed and the DL on the sidelines! 60% of our grad assistants played for Campbell at ISU, all key players in their time here and a great pipeline for future coaches (the other two, one is related to the DC and not sure the connection on the last GA...)

I had asked an administrator about this previously and you can technically be in the portal and still play for current team if coach allows. The thought was maybe this would occur with some of the teams with interim coaches, but would be stunned if this happened with Blake.
I think CW and Chris Hassel talked about an example of this a few weeks ago on their Iowa Everywhere podcast. There was a backup QB somewhere that had entered the portal, but was staying on the team with the coach's approval.

That type of situation would be a little odd, but I can see benefits for everyone. By entering the portal early, the athlete can start officially talking to other programs. Then the program still keeps the player on the roster and use him in whatever role that helps win games (obviously wouldn't put as much effort towards his development).

Tuttle was the Indiana QB that announced he was entering the portal. He is one of Indiana's captains, even though he is backup QB.

Ironically, Tuttle played last Saturday due to injury to IU's starter & Tuttle got injured in game and did not return.

My thoughts are that he maybe just wants to focus on finishing the academic semester, making sure his grades are up and his credits transfer over well. Just a guess. I'm not sure getting an early head start really matters much, as a lot of programs probably don't know what kind of openings they're going to have yet at this point. There are I suppose, programs who know they'll have attrition due to graduation and such.

Hope this isn't just the beginning of a mass exodus this offseason.
Why? This is the new norm. Most people on here were worried about the dbacks leaving and we upgraded our secondary this year.

He wants to play more.

This opens up a spot for us to recruit another MJ Anderson. Could be positive.

Because of our lack of financial support for NIL, we will probably lose a couple of starters.

Can't imagine where you get that impression. Tampa is loved by fans and coaches.
I don't follow gameday threads much, but speaking of Tampa, I hope it was discussed how obvious it was that the WV receiver committed offensive pass interference on the TD right before half. Tampa was shoved out of the way, how the official missed it is just another officiating miracle.

Not exactly sure.
I liked Blake but understand.
I don’t. Doing it now is quitting on a team. If I was a coach I would be Leary of that attitude. I don’t care if you are losing time, you finish the season and then do it since the season will be over in two weeks.

Not to be adick, but MJ Anderson basically said bye Felicia today. As bad as the offense was. I was stoked to see how MJ played today. He looked worthy and showed Peterson didn't have the fortitude to push as the 2 man.

If he thinks he can play another 2 years, then it's all about getting an injury in the next 2 to 3 weeks for him. Is it selfish? Maybe. If you are moving on, then it is appropriate decision.

If he’s a walk on, more power to him. Getting a scholly, not really fulfilling your end.

When they leave middle of the season? No they don’t. I’m trying to remember when a college coach quit in the middle not due to health.

You may not like it, but these days every player needs to do what’s best for them. Some don’t play in bowl games either.

It sucks, but CFB is sucking more and more every year folks….. greed everywhere you look.
