the only thing stupid about the BCS is michigan making a BCS bowl. Thats almost literally the only thing.

The whole debate of #1 vs #2 can easily be solved if the voters don't want bama to be in the title game. easy solution: don't vote them #2. problem solved.

Our Holiday Bowl chances took a shot. We need Texas to beat Baylor so hopefully the Alamo takes Texas and then we need to beat KSU for the Holiday to have a choice between ISU, Baylor, Mizzou, or A&M. That gives us the best chance to be selected out of that group. IF the Holiday picked us that would probably put and 8-4 Baylor in the Texas Bowl over A&M. Mizzou to the Pinstripe and A&M to the Ticket City.

If we beat KSU and Baylor beats Texas, then Baylor will go Alamo and the Holiday likely picks Texas and we are relegated to Pinstripe or Ticket City as I think A&M would get Texas Bowl over us.

Good analysis. Thanks.

I'll be cheering loud for Georgia against LSU.. Georgia has the chance to help bring down the BCS. If the loser of the SEC Championship and a team who didn't even win their division play for the Championship... people will be ******.

I think you are leaving out the Insight bowl. They would pick Texas.

Perhaps, but with Michigan having no games remaining I think they are left too vulnerable to movement around them and don't make the top 14. Wouldn't surprise me if a team like Baylor can win next week against Texas to jump over them, the computers favor Baylor by a large margin and if voters even move them to within a spot or two Baylor would pass them up.

Michigan will move up a few spots based on who they beat. They're in no danger of being left out. Even though tOSU isn't what they were, they're still 10-2, and they're still Michigan. After Alabama, they're as close to a sure BCS bet there is.

Michigan is currently ranked #15 in the BCS standings, I assume you think they will make it into the top 14? As per BCS regulations a team must be in the top 14 to be selected as an at-large team...

Yeah, I don't know who Michigan is going to jump with the top 14 winning handily aside from Arkansas (only losses to LSU and Alabama) and those teams who had the week off. They barely beat a non-ranked Buckeye team and two losses to an average Iowa team and Michigan State (currently ahead of them and rightfully so).

The B1G Championship game between Michigan State and Wisconsin (#14 and #16) would at worst switch places if Wisconsin won and if #1-13 stay the same. As it stands now, Michigan not having another game may hurt them in the long run unless something happens with the top 13...we shall see.

Now if OSU blows away OU and we beat KSU...they may move up.

We won't jump Texas so we need Texas to go to the Alamo before the Holiday gets to pick. That means they'll have to beat Baylor next week or else the Alamo will take a 9-3 Baylor over a 7-5 Texas because its a bowl in Texas and they know Baylor will travel decent. If Texas wins and they are both 8-4, then Texas will go Alamo and Holiday will have a choice of 8-4 crappy traveling Baylor, 7-5 ISU, 7-5 Mizzou, or 6-6 A&M. I think 75% we win that choice.

In reality, the Ticket City Bowl isn't that bad of a bowl game. You get national television exposure on Jan. 2nd 2012. There are only a handful of games on that day.
Second of all your in Texas. This could really help recruiting. The more your on NATIONAL television, the better.
Third of all. It's a bowl game on or after New Years Day! That has never EVER been done at Iowa State. This could be breaking ground kind of material for the future of Iowa State.

I agree, but we need two in the BCS. I don't think we get 2. Somehow Michigan will get in the top 14.
