Well we needed a warm body that could play in the post in emergency situations and we got one. If he doesn't pan out, I'm sure we can show him the door and not waste the schollie on him in future years. As of now, we have one to throw at him so why the heck not?

He may see it that way too. He gets his shot at the big time and if he shows he can handle it, he sticks.

I think it was the definition of an outlandish comment. Morris is an elite PG, MG is an average PG at best with below average scoring abilities. Nobody with common sense compares two players off one head to head matchup

except everybody in the thread where we were discussing head to head matchups.

A little underwhelming from a recruiting standpoint, and quality of recruiting for ISU/T.J. Are we really looking for a player that "can help on the scout team and develop into a Big 12 player" with, in my opinion, limited minutes at best? What happened to quality depth pushing starters for a starting spot? At worst, we lose a scholarship to a more deserving player if better talent exists. I really hope this works out, I do, I think most Cyclones have to be a little concerned since we have actively recruited top talent (Cheick Diallo) the past few years and T.J. has brought in many top recruits, most recently Malik Dime at Washington. We need to continue after the best talent to compete with Kansas.

Who had the advantage at each position was what was being discussed. In no way did Monte not have an advantage over MG. You are defending literally the dumbest thing ever said on here.

How many minutes do you think are available next year?

MM isnt elite yet. he is all-american level but not elite.

would it surprise you to know that MM has averaged fewer points (.3) per minute of game time than MG (.33) and just barely more assists (.143 vs .14) over their respective careers?

Like mentioned before this signing doesn't say a lot about Prohm's recruiting strategy. If you look at the guys he's offered & contacted since becoming HC it's clear that he's looking for quality players who are top talent.

Not to mention that it's June Freakin' 25th, for crying out loud.

I am of the opinion that a filled scholarship is always better than an unfilled scholarship, especially when said scholarship will provide some depth in an area that is sorely lacking in depth, even if it is a reach.

Do people honestly feel that there is some Top 100-150 level kid who hasn't been discovered and/or signed yet at this time in the calendar?

I'd agree with you but it's june 25th. at this point, who seriously is going to become available with immediate eligibility?

We may have lost that pull when Fred left. Kids may not want to ride the bench if they are any good. We will know in a couple of years if we were the destination in ames or if it was a Fred pull.

What? That seems pretty elite to me to be among the top 20-25 players in the country.

And No that doesn't surprise me, Monte didn't play much the first half of his freshman year. He came in and put up crazy Assist-to-TO ratio because he would have 3-4 assists a game then a turnover every 2nd or 3rd game. He did not put up any points (or at least comparatively) that first year. MG has always tried to put up points, so that is not an argument to me really. The stats do lie in some cases. Not shooting that much his freshman year and limitied minutes are my resoning to those 2 stats.
