First off Spencer isn't a bad kid. Officer spoon deserved what he got. Second, I've heard the sa charges weren't true. But then again I heard from people that they are true too. not trying to defend anyone, just saying let the judicial prices play itself out before we make judgment.

You need to quit while you're somewhat behind. Why is it always some 'd-bag' cop's fault when an idiot like Cruise does what he did? I have met a lot of Ames' finest and they are good at their jobs. They only turn into "jerks" when they are dealing with psychos like Cruise.

The Ames Police Department has a unique challenge. The vast majority of ISU students are great, but with a higher population of kids getting their first taste of freedom colliding with drinking, they have a lot more to deal with than your average Iowa police officers. There is likely more of a resulting strict policy with things like wild parties and underage drinking than the vast majority of students would like.

Be smart enough to avoid situations where they're possibly going to inquire? That isn't a PD problem. That's a common sense problem and Mr. Cruise is severely lacking in that department.

HA! Thats comical! The Ames Police Dept, IMO, has always been pretty fair knowing what they have to deal with, and it only got better after the 2004 riots.

I grew up in Dubuque, and the cops in that town are MUCH worse when it comes to the party atmosphere.

I had plenty of encounters with the Ames PD in college. 90% of the time, they were fair. The occasions they weren't didn't merit Mr. Cruise's reaction, although I still think that Public Intox is an awful law (more on the legislature than PDs though).

Also, it kind of seems like people named "Spencer" tend to be entitled ****** bags.

My guess is the Story County Attorney has the ducks in a line at this point if it happened back in May. Also they will claim it was consensual and run the victim through the mud, whether it was or not. Why this crime is terribly under-reported.
