He's not wrong, Bubu got a bad deal. Not sure how much it limited him professionally but he lost his last year of college.

Did he end up getting anything from the accuser? This was botched from the start...his name was smeared thru the mud.

Good. You shouldn't be punished for things you didn't legally do. The current "code of conduct" basically allows the school to punish you based on accusations - not facts.

The policy should be clear. You are suspended while the legal work is hashed out and reinstated fully if the charges are dropped.

Didn't see this posted this morning.

Looks like Bubu Palo has filed a lawsuit against ISU and the Board of Regents for mishandling the rape allegations.

Maybe these things take time, but it seems like odd timing. I really thought this had gone away.

My guess is that his lawyer has been trying to settle out of court for awhile but statute of limitations was approaching so chose to file now.
I think what made the University look even worse was when judge basically called out ISU for all the things they did wrong in handling it they doubled down and wouldn't let Palo play.

Bad press for ISU, but that's what happens when you mess things up.

Feel bad for Bubu and don't blame him for doing this.

Leath will long be a memory by the time Bubu wins this. But he should win it, and I hope he does.

To be clear, nobody exactly bathed themselves in glory on this case. At a minimum, Bubu exercised some bad judgment. But Leath handled this pretty poorly from the start. I don't know if he felt like he had to take a strong stand early in his tenure as president, or what his thinking was. But his late decision, timed after Bubu's transfer deadline, seemed especially egregious.

don't worry though - her name will never appear on this site or in the papers.

Agreed I am glad protections exist for those that deserve the protection but in this case when you blatantly lie you should lose that protection.

As for what Leath did... suspending him originally was the right call. The fact that he was not allowed to suit back up and allow Fred to proceed the second those charges were diminished... Iowa State should have to pay for that.

Just think, if this was Baylor, we probably don't hear about any of this until years later...

This is a really good case study as to why people should think long and hard about casual sex. I'm not talking about the morality of it, but just a situation like this. I'm married now, but if I were single, stories like this would really scare me about having sex outside of a committed relationship with someone I trusted.
