Can someone summarize this case, or the events leading up to where we are now? Thanks in advance. I have followed it lightly. But what did Leath do? Was there pressure from him to suspend Bubu? Was there pressure from him to kick Bubu off the team? Wasn't there more to Leath's decision from a political standpoint, which I think I remember someone stating here a long time ago?

Again, thanks in advanced for those who have not followed as closely as others.

Good. You shouldn't be punished for things you didn't legally do. The current "code of conduct" basically allows the school to punish you based on accusations - not facts.

The policy should be clear. You are suspended while the legal work is hashed out and reinstated fully if the charges are dropped.

This is standard for University codes of conduct, not an issue exclusive to ISU. As a male, I get frustrated at the presumptions of guilt that are essentially mandated by Title IX. As a father of 2 girls, I see what happened with Winston at FSU, and what's happening at Baylor, and I start to wonder if more needs to be done.

Leath erred on the side of caution, but his actions aren't out of the norm for a university president faced with this situation. As another poster said, no one came out of this looking good.

This is a really good case study as to why people should think long and hard about casual sex. I'm not talking about the morality of it, but just a situation like this. I'm married now, but if I were single, stories like this would really scare me about having sex outside of a committed relationship with someone I trusted.

I think when most 17-23 year olds think long and hard about casual sex with a woman it's more on the subject of "should I hit that from the front or behind?"

Between his actions on this case and killing veishea, I have a very strong distaste for Leath. The only good thing about him is his beard.

Why because the overwhelming majority agree he was railroaded by ISU/Leath?

I'm not even getting into it, seems as if on the top of Bubu's ridiculous amount of flaws - he's also sue happy.

You can believe whatever you want, if you all still think he's a good kid that got a tough break, nothing is going to change your mind at this point.

Also, don't believe for a second that the majority agrees. Maybe the majority on this website of fanatical types, but not out and around those that are actual normal people.

I don't think I can blame him for Veisha.

I have a contract sitting on the edge of my bed that a girl must sign in three different spots giving me consent before anything freaky happens.

So far, no girls have seen that contract.

I'm assuming guys bring their lawyers with them.

Didn't see this posted this morning.

Looks like Bubu Palo has filed a lawsuit against ISU and the Board of Regents for mishandling the rape allegations.

Maybe these things take time, but it seems like odd timing. I really thought this had gone away.

I have heard this sooooo many times over the past few years, and I STILL find it to be a selfish attitude. If it was you, would you want everything swept under the rug? There were multiple people who had a hand in blowing this situation up...poor judgment was exercised all around, but so far only one person has paid the price. And that person was never tried nor convicted due to inconsistencies in the accusations made by one of the other parties. Well, never tried in court, anyway. There was certainly a trial by public opinion...
