4 or 5 years ago we were one of the least penalized teams in the country. No, not really.
Weird penalties etc. have been an issue about the whole time.

If we beat some poor schlub big 12 team....I predict that same coach will no longer be there by the end of the 2024 season max. print this post. You haven't been paying attention to the Big 12.
Outside of maybe 3 teams everyone else is absolutely beatable.
Think Gundy will get canned at OSU? Us and them are the two worst teams in the conference. Big battle next Saturday. If we beat some poor schlub big 12 team....I predict that same coach will no longer be there by the end of the 2024 season max. print this post.
Dude, he is in his 8th year at Iowa State. He had his chance to be great, and for a while he kinda was.Coach Campbell has the opportunity to become a great head coach, but he needs to realize that he is not a great offensive coordinator. A great head coach is one who assembles a good team of coaches then lets them use their talents to develop a team. Campbell has done this with the defense and has gotten great results. Now he needs to apply this philosophy to the offense. If he is not willing to change, his reputation as a coach will continue on its downward spiral.

yep, they were notorious for that. It would drive me crazyYa I remember that.
The 'when' of the penalties was the issue like false starts in the red zone.
I'm certainly no expert, but scheme aside, they are just getting beat. On run blocking, the pad level looks to high, their footwork is not good, and they appear slow.Something is broken with our run game. Maybe there are keys that show when we’re going to run, our zone read with no chance that the QB will keep, our blocking scheme, other. I don’t believe that our OL and TE personnel are so bad that Ohio can have 2 guys in our backfield at the point of attack on almost every play. I’d love to hear Ben Bruns or Jay Jordan break this game down.
Just watch what some of the programs across the country are doing on a weekly basis offensively. Washington State hung 64 on Northern Colorado yesterday and consistently has one of the most exciting offenses in the country. Do they have inherent resources over us? We just need a little creativity, which CMC refuses to embrace.
Yes, I think if we beat Gundy I do not think he will be the coach after the 2024 season ends (he gets a longer leash than a NU or OU coach would get obviously) Losing to this hot mess now, is a death knell for a lot of coaching tenures over the years....it is just unacceptable to lose to us....we are that team. Herman was toast at Texas after we beat him....I mean he called the realtor from the sideline. Was Stoops still the OU coach when we beat them? Hayden Fry didn't even finish the year. How many Nebraska coaches were run off for sin of losing to lowly ISU? Just like we can be the new coach launcher (see Alvarez, Tiller, etc....) we can be the program rot detector.Think Gundy will get canned at OSU? Us and them are the two worst teams in the conference. Big battle next Saturday.
For what it’s worth, there is a video on Tiktok of an ISU fan telling Campbell he’s on the hot seat, and CMC turning around and trying to get to the fan and having to be held back by security/police/his players. Those of you that are on tiktok, Sports illustrated me account has the video
My bad, hadn’t looked through everything yet. Good looking outNo need for tiktok.
Go to www.cyclonefanatic.com to sift through the thread about it that was posted early last night.
Those are awful, but worse this year. Was just curious to compare last year's offense to this years. Biggest difference besides points so far is TOP and 3rd down %. From what I remember last year we did move the ball more consistently but we just couldn't score and I think that's reflected in the TOP and 3rd down %.
Statistic: 2022, 2023
PPG: 20.2, 16.7
Rush yards/attempt: 3.3, 3.2
Pass yards/attempt: 6.5, 6.4
Total yards/ play: 5.09, 4.86
TOP: 32:07, 27:45
Opp. TOP: 27:52, 32:15
3rd Down %: 41.88%, 30%
I like Bruns, but is he too involved internally? He may not be able to say what he really thinks.Something is broken with our run game. We are making really good progress with TOP! This is critical with our young players as they gain experience. : (Was just curious to compare last year's offense to this years. Tell the line we're run blocking and call a **** ton of screensOur oline let's like 3 guys through on every run play so **** it let's play spread with tight ends and just throw it around. We will have more time of possession that way than going 3 and out every time
