I was really impressed with Campbell's post-game press conference. The first thing he did was compliment Iowa and credit them for their victory.

The second thing he did was take full responsibility for our team's lack of execution. He said numerous times it's all on him and him alone.

Then Campbell very patiently and respectfully answered every question which had to be tough.

I couldn't help contrasting that with other coaches' press conferences after disappointing losses (e.g., Fran McCaffrey). You really see a person's true colors when they're dealing with adversity.

It's during these difficult times that I feel more than ever how fortunate we are to have a coach like Campbell who leads by example.

Wait. So he didn't quit on the team???

Screw that poster

We have to change our offensive scheme to beat an FCS team? And no, we did not need to change our scheme to beat Iowa either. Just taking care of the ball and executing better on special teams would have done it.

.
So in other words, change, because taking care of the ball and executing on ST are not us.

Nevertheless, what we did, or didn't do, against UNI and Iowa is not the scheme that we've used in our biggest wins. It is close to the scheme we use in most of our close losses and pillow fight wins

I find things like these silly. First of all turnovers are one of the most important parts of the game. Keeping the ball is a major facet of a successful game. So to say "if we just eliminated the TOs we'd win" is silly. It's a big part of the game you can't just discount.

Second, I guess we were watching different games. ESPN's "win probability" had Iowa at 65% to win prior to Breece's fumble. I guess I just hadn't see much from our offense that lead me to believe we were going to score enough to win.

The turnovers obviously didn't help, but I guess I have alot less faith than you do that if we held onto the ball we'd have won, and I find the whole exercise pointless anyway.
Don't overthink it. Iowa had -3 yards in the 3rd quarter but scored 17 points.

Question for you sir: while at Toledo was there a similar pattern that has unfolded at ISU in the early part of the season?
He never throws a coach or player under the bus publicly, but within the walls of the football building everyone will know exactly his thoughts as it relates to their performance. I am convinced some knew it before they left the field last Saturday without him saying a word to them. Hope this is what you meant.

I don’t know if it was shown on tv but Brock and Campbell had a conversation on the sideline that looked a lot like Brock pleading his case and apologizing maybe and Campbell just looked at the ground and nodded barely saying a word.

Interesting. We will see how motivated the young men are next game.

I mean, I have no idea what was said but Matt definitely said next to nothing. Matt was nodding in a way that said to me “yep Brock that’s what I want to hear but I’m trying to keep it together because you and I both know you screwed the pooch really bad and I’ve got to figure this out now.” Brock was clearly distraught. He went back in one more possession after that before they took him out.

He and Manning had some heart to hearts. I don't know if it's been discussed elsewhere, but on their TD drive to end the 1H, we had to take a timeout after the long gain to Wilson. Campbell was irate, and you could read his lips that he was saying they need to have tempo there, playing into their hands and what they expect.

The clock management and inability to get plays in at key times has been a weakness of this staff, and seems like it may be falling on OC's shoulders.

Hope to see it cleaned up and adjustments made.

there were a couple times he was visibly upset while we had the ball

It felt like more than normal there were receivers and especially Chase looking over to the sideline when it would seem he should already be set flailing his arms trying to get the signal of what he was to do on that play. This happened multiple times and more than I’ve noticed before.

I hear you. My question is has his team(coaches) struggled to get the seasons navigation off on the right foot or has it been challenged?

I think isu and toledo are two different animals. Cannot determine in my mind if there are parallels or not. Cmc and staff have always had to do more with less. Dont recall special teams being a nagging problem. Offense always seemed to be good and defense average at best. Dont know what else to add.

I bet he cooled off some after watching the tape...well maybe not at the offense in general, but at Purdy.

Purdy wasn't the difference maker we needed him to be, largely by design it seems, but he's had more egregious mistakes. Honestly, CMC's ire should be at Manning for pretending Purdy is something he is not

I’m wondering if Brock was pulled for symptoms suggestive of a concussion. I rewatched the game and noticed a late hit on the 40 yard pass to Wilson before the half that set up the touchdown. The Iowa DE hits Brock very late and low. You can see Brock’s helmet get smashed into the back of Newell’s helmet and you see Brock’s head ricochet violently off of Newell’s helmet.
