And why doesn't ISU have a chance against those 6 teams in the Big 12?

I think a lot of years including this year Iowa is one of the better defenses we face all season, but really they have very slow skill position players compared to the Texas and Oklahoma teams on our schedule. Big 12 speed on offense is at a different level than Iowa and ISU unfortunately.

Even a poorly coached team like Texas and Texas Tech have been lately kind of backs into having crazy speed on the edges. KSU is the closest thing to Iowa on our conference schedule and we have like 6 consecutive razor close losses to them, losses but we're at least in the game (even with some admittedly bad teams lately) because they don't have that lightning speed.

It has become a real sore point game for a lot of Iowa fans, because they are always sure that Iowa is light years better than ISU, which obviously is not always the case. DMac always made the game a top priority, but Cizik, and CPR treated it as just another game. Campbell definitely is more concerned about what his team is doing than what any other team is doing. He understands that if you get better, winning games, even the Iowa game will happen. There is no secret super power that ISU congers up for this week. The main reason that ISU sometimes tanked after beating a decent Iowa team is decades of teams with no depth. Once 5 or 6 starters get hurt or dinged up the quality of the team goes down fast.

No, the reason ISU suffers losses later is because the schedule gets a heck of a lot tougher. No offense to Iowa. Although they have a sound scheme, their athletes in general do not match up with the teams in the big 12. It's the reason ISU beats them 50% of the time in the last 20 years.

Iowa has talent on the dline and oline. Their skill players are usually not as good as Iowa States. That's just a fact. And Iowa States are about 7th in the big 12 for talent.

I didn't see your post when I added mine. Said the same thing. It's obvious to see.

I think ISU always has a chance in every game but there are usually six or more teams that most would consider tougher than Iowa so if we can't beat Iowa then we'll have to upset a few teams to get to .500.

I think this year is a little different and think we can get to 6 wins even if we lose to Iowa, especially if we improve throughout the season as we did last year. I would rather not check that theory out.
