Not sure why CPR would leave for a lateral move at best...

Far from a lateral move. A&M can spend ISU under the table. Finances are better, facilities are better, resources are better, you can argue the fan support is as good if not better, and the recruiting advantage is out-of-this-world better. The move to the SEC is a benefit or a hindrance depending on what side of the fence you fall on in that argument.

A&M is at a lower level than Texas or Alabama, but their fans expect an Alabama type performance.

Also if Rhoads would be hired this year, you can pretty much expect his President or his AD to be fired. We've all seen how new ADs like to get their own hires in and if Rhoads isn't winning 9 games a year he would get fired. Also A&M is ******* weird and I could never see Rhoads saying gig 'em or whoop.

Paul Rhoads isn't on their short list. Look for Sumlin to be their guy.
Which makes 0 sense. Sumlin has been gifted with an outstanding quarterback. If you are making the move to the SEC and dont know the territory why would you not bring in an SEC guy?

Question for you TxCycloneFan. How does the average aTm fan feel about the change to the SEC?
I only ask cuz I've yet to meet a Mizzou fan who can get excited about the change. Most feel they will be in over their heads.

Does it matter? A$M fans would be in favor of playing in Hades as long as it's not in the same conference as Longhorn U...

He is from RC Solcum's coaching tree and has the backing of the big donors. That's what matters at A&M.

I still think he ends up around 3 million in the next year

There is a better chance that I get a $3 million raise than Rhoads making $3 million in Ames next year. There is no way we can afford that right now.

I've heard rumblings that we can't really afford to get him to $2 million. If we can't, then we can't expect Rhoads to not at least listen to other offers.

have to figure in costs of living too........Ames, IA much cheaper to live in than most places. Making $1.5-2.0 MM / year in Ames makes him probably top 5 individuals in the city......Making $3MM / year in other cities he might not be in the top 100 paid individuals in the community.

Yep 1.5-2.0 million goes further in Iowa than it might in other states.

I certainly wouldn't expect it to exceed $2 million either. I think we will give him enough to make him comfortable for the foreseeable future though.

First thought, That will not help recruiting if everyone wants to tap PR for their team.

Second thought, now folks, Paul would not even think about joining the mason jars. They are nasty.
CPR's name being hot helps recruiting -- alot.

If we don't give CPR $2 Million....you might as well consider him good as gone within 2 years.

I'm fairly certain JP is not living in a vacuum. I have little concern at all. There are enough deep pocket ISU alums to keep CPR in Ames for a LONG time. All the noise is good for our program.......very good. Now we just need to add 1 or 2 four stars to the current class. Kids move on when coaches get fired.

Let's steal some of A&M's, and Missouri's players, final kick in the nuts when exiting the conference.
