Most of them aren't near as bad as people are making them seem, but there are a few bad ones around. The biggest problem is KwikStar/trip from Wi has moved in and they kick *ss and are a great convenience store.
While I agree there are some Casey's that are still alright...most of them are definitely on the decline! The stores are dumps and the staff is not...professional at all!

Exactly. There would be no reason to go to a Casey's if your town has a Kwik Star as Kwik Star stores are far, far superior other than maybe pizza. My wife likes Kwik Star pizza a lot, but I'm meh on them. Everything else at Kwik Star is way better for sure though.
I'm with you pizza is the one thing KwikStar does not do well. I'm not a big fan of chicken tenders but theirs are pretty darn good.

One of my few vices (outside of tobacco, alcohol, hookers, gambling, and blow) is a bag of Casey's brand Jalapeno Cheese Puffs. They are like crack. Kwik Star doesn't have a competing product as far as I know.

I like crack so I'll have to try them if they nearly as good.

Casey's and HyVee...what could be a better pair to draw to?
I filled two vehicles with gas (10% ethenol) in Ankeny yesterday, one at Casey's and one at Kwik Star. The Casey's gas was 10 cents higher.

I want to know why Casey's stopped calling its churros "churros". They were muy sabrosos.

(okay, not the lime-flavored ones, what were they thinking???)

Kwik Trip/Star changed something with their chicken breading in the last year or so. The original recipe, I really didn't care for. But the new recipe is downright dangerous. I'll buy a box of it and eat the whole damn thing in one sitting. Ditto for the tenders.

I do really wish they had popcorn chicken. That, and the pizza, is really the only reason I'd go to Casey's over Kwik Trip/Star if both are available to me.

Stopped at Casey’s in Indianola the other day for a drink and a slice. The pizza wasn’t great but I did spot 7 bottles of Bookers on the shelf. I also noticed there’s a new Kwik Star going in across the street.

What price point did they price the Bookers?

It’s been the same everywhere I’ve seen it in Iowa. $99.99
My local Fareway has 6 bottles left out of their original case that have been sitting for over 8 months priced at $115 per bottle. They moved them up to the front checkout area a few months ago, but haven't dropped the price. I was thinking of offering the manager $450 for all 6 just to see if they would bite. I'm out nothing if they pass.

I was surprised to see so much of it around, allocated bourbons usually fly off the shelves around here.

I figure that if I could manage to walk away with 6 bottles at $75 per that I may be nice enough to gift a bottle to my brother and my son-in-law who are both sophisticated/educated enough to appreciate the gift. I doubt they sell that cheap though. No biggie if not.

You mean outside of being the only thing in a lot of rural towns?

Back when they had franchise stores there was definitely a much stronger presence in the community. That's not even up for debate when you are talking about rural Iowa.

People who rip on Casey's pizza crack me up. No, it's not amazing pizza but for the price and convenience it's pretty damn solid. It's kind of like the domestic vs craft beer debate.

The one by me is pretty awful. I've had serviceable Casey's pizza. It's just as you said. You know what you're getting and what you're paying.

But this one seems to dare people to eat this product.

Side note: the boy puked all over the 5 Hour Energy Drink display recently. They were very nice about it.
