Ok, so this just happened. I just finished up a little late night reading and went downstairs to grab some water. My cats were tearing around the house playing so I just let them be.

I head to the bathroom and was taking a leak. Seemingly out of nowhere, my male cat comes flying in, jumps from about five feet away and lands on the near edge of the toilet. I'm thinking he's doing his best triple lindy into the toilet, I twitched mid-stream and promptly peed on my cat's head.

Please tell me I'm going to get used to cats one of these days

Your cat is discussing the same episode, from his perspective, on CatFanatic right now — his post ends with "... and then, for no reason, he peed on my head! Tell me I'm going to get used to humans one of these days."

You could try closing the bathroom door. In addition to not peeing on your cats head, your family would probably appreciate it.

Peeing on your cats head seems like the appropriate response. But now you're stuck with him since you marked him as yours.

That looks so much like my kitty who died at the age of 18. I am more of a dog person too, but loved that cat. My husband had great battles with him. He could also open doors, and my husband tried every which way to keep him out of our bedroom when the first baby was born. Cat always outsmarted him. Our solution finally was to let him do his thing and he calmed way the heck down and so did my husband. I think the toilet thing is a sign the kitty loves you. They always adore people who are aloof to them.

Sitting here on the couch with my laptop. Mel the monorail cat is on the back of the couch periodically slapping the side of my head with his tail. Cricket can't get to my knees, so she is curled up on top of my feet. Garf is as far up on my lap as he can get, feet up, doing his best to keep me from typing. How can anyone say cats are not affectionate?

Be patient, Cooler - if you give them love & attention, they'll pay it back (one way or another). :)

No...but I was flirting with it. :)

We have actually downsized (through attrition) from six to three over the last 18 months. We didn't plan on that many...we had three, ages 4, 16 & 17, and then a feral cat abandoned her three kittens in our garage. By the time the were old enough for new homes we were too bonded to them. We never expected the older two to live to within a week and two weeks respectively of their 20th birthdays. One of the kittens developed a bladder disease and died last spring, so now we have an eight year old & two that are four years old.

I don't recommend six indoor cats, even in a decent sized home. Two or three is good, though. One cat left to its own devices during the day can get lonely & bored.

Women like cats because they are low maintenance and men who like cats are usually weird. I don't trust either.
