Why Royce White is a 2nd Rounder
If this gets out to the GMS around the league, Royce will drop to 2nd round, and here's why. There is one quote (from the CF exclusive) that moved him from a potential lottery pick in my mind to a lock for the 2nd round.
"As far as basketball goes, I am not looking forward to it because I am insecure about you know, where I am but that is just the reality of it. But I have courage and whatever happens in that realm is not what’s most important."
Royce, you should have never said that stuff. This is like a job interview.
Employer: So, tell why you think you would be successful within our company?
Royce: Well my track record speaks for itself but I'm not really sure how I will fit in with your company. I am really not looking forward to a transition of this magnitude, I am not sure I am ready.
Employer: Okay. How important is success to you?
Royce: Well I have the courage to succeed, but success within your company is ultimately not the most important thing in life. Although I do want to succeed, you have to understand that I have goals outside of this company.
Employer: Alright Royce. We will likely be headed other directions with this position but we thank you for your time and we really appreciate your honesty.
My point is no matter how deep you feel about things, this is a spot where you must sell yourself and check your tongue. Say things you may not always believe. Tell them what they want to hear. Who will give someone guaranteed money, when that person isn't sure if they will succeed, and that person doesn't ultimately care if they succeed. That is the worst combination for a potential job candidate.
