I've lost faith that a raise and contract extension will keep a coach; maybe for an extra year. Any good coach can be bought. Houston's Sumlin got a raise and huge extension one last year; and they have a lot of money.

You're talking about a jump from a non-AQ to a BCS school. There's quite a bit of difference.

Also, how great is it that so many players felt the need to jump in and "defend" their coach on Twitter against rumors of him leaving.

Channel 13 talking about this. I know we don't need another thread on CPR Leaving, but I got to wonder where the smoke comes from on this? Why would channel 13 report this on the news?

They said there were rumors ASU is interested in him. Are rumors news?

He's a good coach and they honestly must not have much to talk about.

When Jake Knott tells you to "Watch it"..... you should probably listen.

Wouldn't most idiots out there consider jumping from Iowa State to virtually any other BCS school to be a similar jump? I mean, when the poo being flung at the wall is Illinois and Arizona State, schools that aren't anywhere close to being significantly higher in profile than Iowa State is...

I think some mistook the headline...the rumor was asu was interested in CPR.

Well you know what...I'm interested in Samantha Steele but that doesn't mean she interested in me.

I suppose, I was just responding to Go2Guy's comment. Rhoads and ISU fans should know that's not the case. At any non-AQ school there is a clear, visible cap on how much you can acheive and how much respect you'll receive as evidenced by Boise State every year. We all know that cap exists at ISU too, but theoretically you should be able to surpass it.

If it were any other coach and if the rumors were actually coming from ASU and not some radio and TV personalities, I would be worried.
CPR is trying to build something here, and if he succeeds he will get bigger offers than ASU. That's when we will have to worry.

ASU is a good school and it is a step up from ISU, but not enough for CPR to cash in all of his chips. ASU has a pretty good program, good talent, good recruiting base, and an athletic department that really wants to support the football program. They just need the right coach to do it. I can see a guy like Sumlin having huge success at ASU (Rhoads would too). ASU could easily have won their divison of the Pac12 this year with the talent they have, if they had a better coach. They were in the drivers seat and went in the tank.
With all of the teams that are down right now in the Pac12 (Colorado, UCLA, Arizona, WAZU, Washington, Oregon State, Cal), I could see ASU winning the conference in a few years with better coaching as well. Heck, even Stanford will take a big step back next year when Luck is gone. I can see ASU being up there with Oregon and USC in a year or two.

I think Pollard has talked to Rhoads and told him before you take any job, lets talk about your future at Iowa State. I also believe CPR has told Pollard we will talk when the season is over, right now, I'm preparing to beat Kansas State and win a bowl game.

I don't think CPR wants to be distracted with contract negoiations, similiar to when he didn't want to talk about conference realignment.

The raise will come after the season and I bet that's the soonest CPR wants to talk about it.

A friend of mine did name his junk Sammy (as in Sosa). Another friend named his junk Griffey (as in Ken Griffey, Jr). My friends were weird a decade ago...

Is your first friend's junk a little, um, paler than it was a year or two ago?

On second thought, don't answer that.

ISU stole all the national spotlight from the local media's precious Nebraska-eiu game. The local media will have their vengence.

His friend got caught corking his bat and claimed it was a mixup, that was the one he used for "practice"
