4:00 pm press conference means likely suspension. BDJ will likely be suspended 2-5 games but back for the conference. More concerned that Nader's potential involvement could find him suspended for much longer. More issues for this team off the court then ever before for Fred. Just think if it is handled internally there is no need for a press conference.

Fred had a press conference scheduled for today before any of this happened.

The distraction this has caused the team which decreases the chances of winning tomorrow. You don't care about the game tomorrow?

Do you realize how much drama, small issues, etc. happen within a team each year that could be classified as "distractions" that we never hear about?

I would be willing to bet they only tacked on the drug charge to take him in since they haven't gotten thru to him with the noise situation. It doesn't sound like there was any evidence of pot outside of the scent, which could have been a neighbor.

Don't start him, or sit him the first half. Needs to get the message apparently he isn't better than the rest of the world.

My vote would be sit him on the bench for the first half of the Iowa game along with a warning that if this continues suspensions will be handed out. It would send a message without being too severe and without screwing the team over too bad. There has to be some reprecussion. You can't let young players think its ok to be partying until 3 in the morning in the middle of the season. 20,21,22 year old college students are going to party from time to time but you gotta be smarter than that.

If you are going to suspend college basketball players for partying during the week, look out. Half of the players in college basketball would be suspended.

Ames PD gon' Ames PD.

@TravisHines21: Spoke to BDJ's attorney, said police tried to use drug house statute where it didn't apply and judge recognized that.

@TravisHines21: BDJ's attorney also said they don't anticipate any additional charges being brought but that is an option for police.

Likely translation, you can't arrest someone for being around pot smoke.

*I know. I know. Not a wise decision, but we're not talking about some horrendous crime here.

Going to go with Trust the Mayor here since pretty much most of his decisions as coach have been pretty good ones for the team, the university and individual players.

It is too bad that the police pursued the drug charge and that it was made public. If only the noise related charge had been reported, I think no one would be calling for a suspension.

I say you don't start him Friday as punishment for embarassing the University. Then you run his butt off at practice starting Saturday to make sure he understands the expectations of being on the team.

Why?
