Bellzisu, I agree 100%. You know they read threads like this and with all the comotion with whether or not he is the coach of our future after two seasons. Will it or will it not play a role on Barnes and other recruits decision making? I tend to think so, but I hope Barnes brings his talent to play at Iowa State and coach Mcdermott.

HB can go inside or outside. He will be a great addition for any team. He is like a mini Kobe.

No question this is nerve-wracking to see if HB will come here or not. But hey, he's got plenty of time to see what offers come in and see other schools before committing. What would you do in his shoes? I'm sure he's got a lot of good relationships locally but most of us wanted to get a few miles from home when we went to college.

Not that many people remember that Fred Hoiberg wasn't a lock to come to ISU. He was recruited pretty hard by Lute Olson at Arizona and also Nebraska--where he had some relatives. I mean he was an ISU ball boy and came to most of the games and he still probably was closer to going elsewhere than most of us would like to think about.

I also think it didn't hurt that his dad is one of the higher ups in the College of Ag either....

Although, it also doesn't hurt that Barne's mom works at the college too.

Guys visit schools that are non-factors all of the time.

I guess him visiting Iowa on several occasions must just be because he's a fan of the team then.

I'm going to be honest, Barnes isn't traveling to Iowa City to soak up the game day atmosphere. While it may be true that Iowa probably won't compete with ISU for the kid, saying he's a "non factor" when he's gone to at least two games is.... no accurate?

If I was a recruit I'd go to places just to travel around and see new things...

Sure, I would too.

But, saying that Iowa is a complete non-factor even when the guy has been to Iowa City on at least two occasions, just doesn't make sense to me.

I don't think ISU fans should be threatened by Iowa, because ISU has a lot going for them regarding the kid. But there are reasons why he would go to Iowa - I just doubt that they out-weigh the pros of ISU.

If you're nervous about Harrison Barnes today, just wait until next year. He had three D-l scholarship offers in his freshman year at Ames High, and lots more will be coming. Whatever, I enjoy seeing him sit beside Lucca Staiger in the student stands during Cyclone games.

It really is a non factor. I had a friend in high school who was a D1 recruit. He went to games all the time when he had zero interest in the school. Free tickets to a college game. Why not go? Especially when your home team is playing on the road

If some people on here have their way, Gmac won't be around when Harrison is a senior anyway so we'll never know if he would have landed him or not.

Babb is not a "lock" to go to Iowa by any means. He is still evaluating his options.
