Last winter was probably my favorite winter. A little snow is alright, but after that winter we had about 70" of snow in one season a couple years ago, i think we'd earned a reprieve last year.

The whole '4 seasons' thing is highly overrated. Cold sucks.

The last winter I lived in Ames. It was unspeakably brutal. After my roomates were idiots who let the furnace blare, and we got a $600 heating bill, we kept the house as cold as possible, without freezing the pipes.

I remember a lot of nights going to bed in snow pants and ski jacket with hat and gloves on.

January 16, 2009 had a low of -31. I think that was the night I tried that trick of throwing a cup of hot water in the air and seeing if it froze by the time it hit the ground.

I know we need some moisture because of the drought, but I always worry about people driving on snow. Maybe a few good rains on the warm days we are supposed to have the next week or so.

Four seasons are fine, as long as two are like spring, and two are like summer.

I love snow in December, January, and Early Feb., but then it starts to melt and becomes crap.
Really snowy winters are the best, though, and last winter was a major downer.
