All this new money needs to be spent. So a really nice 2-tired $70 million SEZ financed for 30 years would cost right at $3 milllion per year. For that we should get a 60-65,000 seat stadium (maybe even extended north end toward the jumbotron) and have a solid recruitig tool to compete in the new strong Big XII or XIV ...... I like typing "Big XIV". AND have plenty of money left for competitive coaches salaries, etc. I bet if we get to a firm $30M per year conference dollars we see an announcement yet this year. Sweet.

We still have plenty of bills to be paid so I wouldn't worry about spending money. ISU still has a lot of years to make payments on the Hilton scoreboard, ribbons, and the JT video board.

All that was in the budget at the old income,....... AND we have a $20M reserve,....don't get your point at all.

Exactly. Most of those things were financed when the Big12 income was HALF of what it is currently. Scoreboard is easily paid with the recent Fox contract, etc. With our upcoming increases we should see some awesome improvements in my opinion.

We have a huge increase in income and I agree that SEZ expansion needs to be high on the list, but #1 on the list absolutely has to be paying Rhoads and Hoiberg whatever it takes to keep them right now. They are both near the bottom of the Big 12 in terms of salary.

Rhoads is taken care of (at this time) with the long-term contract and bonus package. Obviously, with continued improvement, that contract will be evaluated as needed.

I'd assume Hoiberg will have something similar in due time.

Just my opinions.

Agreed on both points, not saying they both need $3 mil/yr contracts at the moment, but keeping them in Ames should be top priority right now IMO. No excuse to not pay them at least their fair market value with all this cash rolling in.

I've gone over what has been reported to the BOR over the past several years and much of those projects from the early JP era are already paid off or close to it.

We currently have a little wiggle room in the budget, things don't start getting tight till around 2016 (in the projected budget) when the new TV contract was supposed to be re-negotiated. After 2016 we had wiggle room again. With the contract being negotiated now instead of 2016, I wouldn't be surprised to see some projects moved up and things moving faster regardless of adding schools.

Yes, absolutely nebraskamwould walk away, along with Mizzou. I believe it was released this week that each school in the B1G still receives the largest payout per school of all conferences, followed by the SEC. They have yet to renegotiate their contracts also, so it's only going to get bigger for them. Cash rich Big 12 still does not equal B1G/SEC money, no matter how you look at it!

I'm not sure about those numbers. Last I checked, Big 10 schools were pulling in $21 M per, while the SEC was at about $18.5 M. The Pac 12's new deal also I believe, places them ahead of the Big 10.

ISU, as it stands currently without further expansion, will be at about $24 M starting in July. Throw in FSU, Clemson, etc., and that number climbs to $30 M+.

So the cash rich Big XII actually surpasses the Big 10, SEC and the Pac 12. Every conference will gain during every renegotiation. That said, the new Big XII is putting itself in position to gain as much and more than the other "Big 3".

Correct, that is the all in number, tiers 1, 2 & 3. Pac 12 is this way also.
SEC and Big 12 do not include Tier 3 revenues in those total #'s.
don't forget to add in $3M for big xii teams for the new champions game. Enough right there to expand JTS. Soon you will be able to put Kinnick inside the new and improved Jack Trice.
