I just read an article that mentioned Clemsoning, defined by Urban Dictionary as "the act of delivering an inexplicably disappointing performance, usually within the context of a college football season".

The example they provided was: Oklahoma State's overtime loss to an unranked Iowa State was a full-blown Clemsoning. It was entered on November 21, 2011 by someone named solidverbal.

Any of you responsible for this gem?

I dunno, but Clemson's deep handoff to the RB from the shotgun on 4th and 1 with the game on the line was much too familiar!
:arghh:

I didn't see the replay of Clemson's TD that was overturned by the replay official. Was that a good call, or did Clemson get a classic Iowa State nut kick?

Pretty sure Solid Verbal is the origin of the term "Clemsoning" in the first place.

I was pulling for Clemson last night because (1) I like land-grants, (2) hater on Jameis, (3) why not, and (4) there's a professor there I'm friends with, and he's about 100% orange and purple, so I figured why not pull for them.

Watching Clemson **** that game away definitely brought back some of my Iowa State PTSD, though. Could have sworn it was the same old story only with different, orange colors instead of cardinal and gold.

Hard to get kicked in the nuts on an overturn but if it is the play I am thinking of the receiver was half a yard short.

I saw the initial TD call, went to one of the other 3 good games that night, then came back to learn that 1) the call on the field was overturned, 2) Clemson had a bad snap fubar for -20 yards or so, then missed the field goal attempt. I could have sworn it was Iowa State playing Texas, or Kansas/Missouri with the Big 12 North title on the line...

The overturned TD was a good call, although on the following play, I believe, the RB had crossed the plane. That play was not reviewed. The next play was the snap over the QBs head for -20

I was born and raised a Clemson fan and am obviously an ISU fan also. It often sucks, nut cups are always required. I don't recommend it to anyone.

Clemson has like 7, 9+ wins since 2000.
They have been to a bowl game all of those seasons except for 2004 in which they went 6-5.
Their Stadium holds 82K and is known as Death Valley.
So they lay an egg to some top teams more often than they should.

Why is this on an ISU board again?
heck, at least they gave FSU a game. ISU would have been ranked 22nd went on the road and found away to get 10 injuries and get beat by 50.

I thought it was called "Bayloring" Or is that just basketball only?

Nah, that's "Baylor is Baylor is Baylor" (sometimes referred to as "Baylor gonna Baylor"). There is a distinction there from Clemsoning.

I seem to recall us giving FSU all they could handle the last time we played them away from Ames...

this is all in fun fyi....

1st off...I am not sure even if Seneca did score we make the extra point to tie.

2nd off, in typical Clemsoning fasion. We go 6-1 to start the season. have a showdown with Oklahoma and get beat 49-3.
Get beat by Uconn at home and end up playing a bowl game in Boise finishing the last part of the season 1-6 with one of the best QB's we have ever had.

Our 2000 season was our best year ever.
Didn't play OU or Texas. Only played 2 ranked teams all year and got handled by both.

1998 up 28-0 on KSU at the half. Get beat 35-28.

2004 - chance to win the North and go to the title game. Easy game against Mizzou - Nope

2005 - Chance to win the North and go to the title game. Easy game against KU - Nope

Losing to FCS teams

Missing extra points to Tie or win a game

Seeing a pattern here?

ACC is awful, usually worse than the big10. Clemson is halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte, and adding on Spartanburg Greeenville MSA has a population of more than 10 million living 2 hours or less from campus, that isn't counting Columbia. If we had that kind of population base I think we would be able to get those kind of crowds too, even with limited success.
