When I was a wee lad I would try sips of my parents’ coffee. They used a percolator which is a good way to destroy the brew, and using pre-ground did not help me care for the vile bitter liquid, an opinion that I maintained until my mid 50’s when I joined the Peace Corps in Armenia.

We were housed in a home stay family during training. I was offered a cup a coffee during my first meal so I took a cup to be polite. I was handed a cup in a demi-tassse (about 4 oz) and took a sip. Thought I was drinking ambrosia. It was similar to the taste of semi-sweet chocolate but coffee.

Armenians drink Turkish coffee which has a special way of brewing with its own pot and take their coffee seriously enough that the market had several vendors, each with a selection of a half dozen beans and grinders for each.

Use freshly ground coffee. I find that a French press will brew a pretty good cup. For me, the proper balance of sugar that just takes the edge off the bitterness is crucial for my taste. But you still need to be an Armenian grandmother to make the perfect cup.

How can anyone drink this awful disgusting liquid? Absolutely putrid.

I'm amazed such an anti-coffee crowd exists. I need it to start my day. I didn't start drinking it until graduate school, and started with copious amounts of creamer and sugar. By now, I need at least 2-3 cups a day, the darker the better.

Frankly, I'm amazed anyone can make it through the working day, a long car ride, or an Iowa football game without it.

Currently drinking a cup while feeling bad for all that don't enjoy this goodness.

Never been able to drink it. Have tried plain black coffee, flavored stuff, and adding all kinds of cream and sugar, but the problem is it still tastes like coffee. My taste buds just don't like it. I don't begrudge anyone for drinking it, though. Just not my thing.

Made a cup in my Aeropress. If anyone works in an office that doesn't do a lot of coffee and wants something a little nicer than a Keurig with K-cups I'd highly recommend it. Easy to use and you can use whatever coffee you want.

I came into this thread fully understanding that people don't like coffee. I get it. But the people of the opinion that "coffee is for the weak" are ******* strange. It's coffee. I'd venture to guess there are literally hundreds of millions (if not a billion+) of people that drink the stuff.
