I'm really confused about how this will work. I just graduated in May and live in West Des Moines. I have been one of the people over the last 4 years that has camped out every time, often the 1st person in line, and at worst 2nd row in the student section. So I decided to buy student tickets again from a girl because I love being in Cyclone Alley. I planned to take atleast half a day of work off (probably the whole day and start camping Thursday night) on the Friday before the KU game, But now I feel like I might be screwed because I won't be able to wait in line on the 6th too in order to get one of the "reserved gameday" tickets. Anyone know any clarifications on how this will work to get the gameday tickets? Or suggestions are welcome at this point!

Hard to believe they didn't come up with a plan with former students living in Des Moines in mind.

When did ISU announce this? I've never heard anything about it. So let me know if I'm understanding this correctly, if you're a season ticket holder you pick up a physical copy of the ticket on the 6th?

A student season ticket holder is how I understood it. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I would suggest if at all possible to switch the day off to the 6th. I think you would be perfectly fine showing up early Saturday or late Friday to get in to Gameday.

I'm not really sure about how seating for the game will be though. I assume it will be clearer in the other emails.

Confused people need to read jkclone's post 134, which contains the Athletic Department's email to students. It applies to student tickets and is as much as anyone knows. The email indicates that more information will follow about the procedure.

I just asked a girl I still know on the Cyclone Alley committee, and they apparently don't know anything about it yet, but they are having a meeting tonight. So I hope things can get clarified from there.

I guess I'm not worried about getting in for gameday. Do people think that all of Hilton will be full just for gameday?

Yea, my student is far more interested in getting the game tickets than gameday. I think the people crazy for gameday will be the same ones that really just show up to the big games to try and get their mugs on tv.

They also recently sent out their Cyclone Alley incentives email for getting points for going to noncon games. If they had offered preference to KU for attendance, those womens' games worth more points would have quite an attendance bump, at least for the start of the game.

That's what I meant. I'm a freshman but I didn't win the lottery all-sports pass so I had to go the expensive route and buy them secondhand from another student so I don't get important emails like these. This is a good idea by the AD but the lottery was an awful idea. There were many passionate Cyclone fan students that were left out of the lottery. I'm not sure why they couldn't have done something similar to the KU game for season tickets for freshmen? It was dumb IMO because then you have people buying the all-sports pass just to turn a $150+ profit off of the AD.

That's awful. Hopefully you got them for less than former students still sitting in Cyclone Alley.

If you are no longer a student but are getting in with student tickets you aren't the one getting screwed.

You're screwed. When they match the tickets to the student ID your ID isn't going to be a season ticket holder and I'm betting you can't get a ticket. I'm guessing whoever sold them to you isn't all that gungho about waiting in line for a ticket for you. Unless she has some friends who will get a ticket for her I'm guessing you're screwed.

Poetic justice frankly.

Yeah. Perhaps he should email JP and see if he is willing to help a guy out.

If you game the system you might just get screwed. Next time pony up for regular tickets rather than riding the backs of the students.

Not sure if many people are going to feel bad for you "getting screwed" when you are screwing actual students out of spots in the student section.

They will have to have some way to avoid that though for all the students who had to buy them second hand from other students......

But on another note:

Don't go bashing on me. I'm fresh out of college and couldn't afford the price for regular season tickets/donation (not to mention being stuck in the nose bleeds) I have paid my dues and don't feel guilty going back into the student section at all. I spent countless hours and several nights freezing my ***** off and spending money on tents, generators, and other supplies to get into game over the last 4 years. (and plan to this year when possible) I was even at all the games in Fred's first year here. I'm not taking anything away from any students other than at the bigger games where ONE fan who shows up just before tip may not be able to get in.

Nothing says they have to help secondary tickets. If they get to the point they have capacity full on students who didn't sell their tickets I can bet you I know who is going to get into the game.

And no, you haven't paid your dues. You're no longer a student and don't have tickets. That's not paying your dues. The people who are paying for their season tickets are the ones who have paid their dues. Just because you want to be there doesn't entitle you to tickets because they don't have a price point for you. Your dues as a student were paid...that doesn't entitle you to student tickets indefinitely.

You couldn't seriously think you weren't going to get bashed for it, could you? If you can't afford a regular ticket, then you can't afford season tickets. There are a lot of non-students (that is what you are now) who can't afford tickets or can only go to a game here or there - join the crowd. Student tickets are cheaper because the students are supporting it with their fees. You aren't. It is great that you were such a great student supporter of the Cyclones. I hope that you become a great graduate supporter of the Cyclones. Get used to being a former student. Congratulations.

You just went through 4 years of Hoiball and 3 NCAA tournaments? Yeah, there are not going to be any alums wanting to hear your self-pity party about how you deserve this year. Given that and your willingness and ability to pay (or lack thereof) the back of the line will be just fine.

A student like istater7 is actually paying a pretty heavy student fee that goes to the Athletic Department and still has to buy a student ticket from another student at an inflated price.

Let's put it this way: How ****** would you have been if you couldn't get tickets your freshman year because too many recent graduates couldn't let go and snapped up tickets specifically set aside for students? Because there is at least one person in this thread that has happened to.

You've paid your dues? I've been a season ticket holder for over a decade and am paying tuition for a current student. How many GMac games did you sit through? You suffered through Fred's first year? Oh the humanity.

I honestly don't care what you pay for your tickets but don't play the victim.
