Got back from the doctor and I am getting a colonoscopy soon and I'm gonna assume a good chunk of you guys here have had one. Yea its weird to do it at 19 but it needs to get done with my family history and I am having the same experience that my father had when he found out he had colon cancer.

Anyway... what can I expect? My father said his was vastly different because they found a tumor in the first turn, so it was cut short and it wasn't that bad...

You can follow my bowel movements starting here: http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/2915244-post58.html

Started drinking the stuff around 5pm (CDT) Thursday Night

When they give you that chalk stuff to drink the night before, make sure you dont have plans and you are stocked up on teepee...

All kidding aside, good for you, for doing this at a young age given the family history.

It's not bad at all. I've had two of them done (I'm 62) and don't remember a thing about either of them. Prepping for them is the worst part... the actual exam not a big deal at all. Fear not... you will do just fine

It's not that bad. I had one a few years ago. A few tips on the night before.

1 - Get the drink as cold as you can. It goes down easier when it's really cold.
2 - Buy a couple of lemons. Down a glass of the drink and then stick a slice of lemon in your mouth. It will make the semi-nasty taste of the drink disappear.
3 - Obviously, be ready to be in the bathroom a lot.

Good luck to you!

Yikes! 19? Best of luck 2015.

Thank you, I'm kinda freaking out about the whole thing.

This isn't necessarily by choice. I'm having problems and it was the exact same problem my father had when he had a tumor and my aunt had those polyps things.

They call it "Go Lightly" and you do go, but there's nothing lightly about it. And it tastes like, well, you know... My wife had to do this once and swore she'd never do the "Go Lightly" again - ever.

Do yourself a favor and give yourself an enema instead. It accomplishes the same thing a whole lot faster and with less "going lightly". This will clear out the large intestine which is all they can scope anyways.

They make you fart before you leave.

Shouldn't this be in the Friday confessions thread?

I had my first a year ago. The prep wasn't as disgusting as I imagined, but is still pretty disusting. Just be prepared to start running to the stool constantly about 20 minutes after you start drinking the stuff.
Once you get to the doctor they give you some stuff and next thing you know you are done and they are telling you to try and push out a fart or two.

Here is some required reading before your "exam". enjoy!

BTW, its a piece of cake, except for the 24 hours without food...

Of all the things we have in common 2015, this is not one of them haha. Best of luck though. I've never been through it but have had to clean my colon out before with that same stuff and it is definitely not the funnest thing I've ever done. I'm sure it will all go off without a hitch

Move the TV into the bathroom so you can stream a couple movies from netflix. Maybe I shouldn't have said stream.

Hope it all turns out well for you!
