Re: youtube video suggestion about CPR's comment on Lanning

Can someone put up a video of the play Lanning made and how poorly CPR addressed it by discrediting Lanning? This video will go viral and get more hits than CPR's pride video.

I cannot imagine how any player in their right mind would play for him after this sickening comment.

Not that I didn't like Lanning taking a shot down field, but that play was about 90% Lazard and 10% Lanning. It wasn't like Lanning made some amazing play. Richardson also seemed a little more willing to take chances down field in this game. Hopefully that continues, especially with Lazard. We either got a reception or pass interference on about all of those plays against TCU.

Judoka posted gifs of the Lanning throw and the SBR throw on the next series. Basically the same throw on opposite sides of the field.

the big difference was that Lanning basically "threw Lazard open" while on the SBR throw Lazard was 5 yards free of his guy.

The only explanation to me is that the coaching staff really REALLY REALLY doesn't want their QBs taking any changes throwing to covered receivers or "throwing receivers open". Thinking back to SBR's career, that seems to be a pattern. If the receiver isn't wide open, he usually doesn't make the throw.

Which comes back to my point, why recruit Allen Lazard if that's a throw you don't want your QB to make? You recruit him so that your QB always has someone to throw to....because even when he's not open, he's open.

I'm at a loss for words. Maybe he is actually trying to run the program as far down as possible. It would explain the absolute ineffectual coaching the last 3 years. Pollard better be making a plan right about now.

He really needs to talk "Sportscenter plays." I'm starting to think that originated with Rhoads instead of Mess, who just couldn't overcome the awful situation he was placed into.
Let me be clear when I say I don't want Mess back, but the common denominator between how poorly Herman's, Messingham's, and Mangino's offense have produced has always been rhodes.

ugh...not really. Would you call this a good situation for an HC to come in to? Especially one that knows equivocally how difficult it is and the inherent disadvantages that come with it? Hate to break it to you but coaches are dicks. Especially highly sought after ones but they are also smart and cunning. If they don't have to take a dumpster fire then why do it? As much as people want to think that there's some guy out there that is just so noble and just chomping at the bit to turn a dumpster fire into an ice cream social the reality is there isn't. Coaches want to win, nay, need to win, and they are going to go to the place that offers the easiest time of that and the coach a school like ISU ends up with is a guy that is looking for a second chance because they effed up the first time around or it's your 3rd or 4th choice guys, marginal guys, or guys looking for a payday.

If I look at the players individually, yes. You will come into a program with a very good RB, a good set of WRs, two tackles with a lot of time under their belt and a QB with very good tools. You lose two DEs and a safety from the defense while returning everything else and a lot of it for two more years. The situation isn't as bad as you and others want to make it. Bill Snyder probably wins 10 games with this roster. Urban Meyer probably does that. You have to find that guy. You have to find THE guy in this hiring cycle who is going to be Urban, Brian Kelly, Bill Snyder, etc and you have to find him a step ahead of everyone else. The Herman ship has sailed. The Fuentes ship has sailed. You need to find the next one of those guys.

9-10 wins might be extreme here but you get my point. Coaching has lost us, at a minimum, 2 games and I happen to think it's 3.

HOLY ****!!!! Completely F'd This is Insane.. IT was single coverage?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I don't care who the receiver is if you have single coverage, you have to throw the god damn ball.. This is the last straw...

I have a signed Paul Rhoades Football that is now available. I cant even look at it.

I've got some bad news...

Sam deserves an Apology from Me... And others. F CPR.. Idiot.

"probably not a ball that should have been thrown." Seriously, this cant be real. If i had a qb and he wouldnt throw to single coverage every time hed be benched. Paul wants to bench a guy because he threw into single coverage??!?!??!

Yup Sam I am sorry that I thought you were a bum. They made you suck and continue to do so every fing day.

Please FIRE this guy today.

Also probably remove the F CPR from my title. Thats probably over the top. Sorry that quote just really sent me over the top.

I don't often do this but I agree with you. The use of that throw was made possible by guys like Allen Lazard. He's is the prototype people had in mind when they first asked if that might work even if he's not open.

Then ISU has basically locked themselves out of serious contention for the type of athletes they need to be a successful P5 offense for the system they are trying to run. That's what those kids do in high school...they have the better athletes on the offensive side of the ball. The QBs throw it to those better athletes and let them make plays. That's what they want to continue to do in college, and there are plenty of good programs that will afford both the QBs and the other skill players the opportunity to do that. It would explain alot...

I dont think Pollard is that stupid...

He has put up with 30+ games in a row of sucking, and then a dumb Youtube video with 113 views will magically change his mind?

As I tweeted, Tech, TCU, and Baylor make that throw all game/every game with great success. We do it with great success, proceed to bench the QB the remainder of the game, and tell him it was a poor decision to throw the ball.

And you wonder why our offense, with nice talent, can't score more than 20 points a game.

Just shows the mindset of this regime and gives a little glimpse of why our QBs have done nothing but regress the longer they are in our system. It's just ******** on it's face. I've been trying to keep an open mind on Rhoads, but I've moved from skeptical to actively "want him gone" camp. I'm done with this mess. He's become nonsensical and toxic.

Maybe Paul really thinks this way all the time.

Here nor there
Great play by Lazard. That "execution" normally can't be counted on for ISU (see Iowa game).

That said, Richardson played so loose and free against KU and WVU back in 2012 too. Now he is mechanical to the point of unassured hesitation.

Wow. I have been in the camp of "let's wait until season end for the firing". Not anymore. I see no negatives to cutting ties right now.

Even if you think that (Rhoads' response), why the hell do you say it in the presser? Lanning has to be like, "why did I come here again?"

My anger and frustration comes in waves. I try to be upbeat and positive, but this is one of those waves where I cannot hold my tongue. This ******* comment illustrates what has happened to every QB we've had during the CPR era. We coach the instinct OUT of them and make them horribly pedestrian! TCU, Baylor, TTU, WVU bring in a young QB and tell him to "THROW THE BALL AND LET YOUR RECEIVERS FIND IT!" But not us. We air it out to an overwhelmingly good receiver and chastise the kid for throwing. **** CPR. This torrent of anger has me overwhelmingly done with his ********. **** him. I'm almost ashamed to be attending more games this year.

Edit: ... almost.

Tell me how its not? You honestly think if JP calls the guy up and offers him $2.5 Million, he says no?

1. JP isn't offering any $2.5M
2. Tom Herman would turn it down. And laugh his *** off about it too. We got rid of him, remember?
