CPR - this is a sad day because . . .

if we lose to KU, there's a looming chance we lose out the rest of the way. If we go winless in conference (and how can we avoid thinking about the consequences?), CPR cannot stay. Can he?

I think very highly of CPR the man. I had hoped he would succeed at a level that would allow him to stay here for years. But. . . .

His only winning season was his first. The program, W-L wise (and, ultimately, what else matters?) has declined significantly two successive seasons now, his 5th and 6th at ISU. We do not have the upsets to feed off like we did in his first years; we are uncompetitive.

Can we afford NOT to replace CPR if we speculate how season ticket sales might decline if he stays?

ISU has great fans, but we can take only so much. I love the guy, CPR, but the program comes first. It must.

I'm conservative about replacing coaches, I hung on to the the end with Mac. But I'm one of the fellows in the front trenches (not a money giver but cannon fodder) who has about had enough.

Regardless of what happens, I fervently wish CPR is treated by all of us with respect and dignity.

You guys need to give it up.

Because unless JP has a secret slush fund or somebody writes a very large check, CPR will be back in 2015

Fans will come back next season just do to the new stadium additions. I would wait a year. We cant afford 5 million.

You could be right, but, maybe not. The cost of keeping CPR might be greater than starting anew.

OTOH, can we afford another season like this one? I don't know the answer to that question.

...and we're going to suck next year. The team I'm watching right now is NOT disciplined and not prepared for this game. They are not playing fundamental football. Frankly, it's embarrassing. This isn't about talent anymore. KU doesn't have anymore than we do. They have an interim coach, their backup QB in and we're getting our ***** handed to us.

I feel bad for every single kid on this team who is willing to run through a brick wall only to find another brick wall.

Who cares, Squawks lost to Minnesota. Anything else today is gravy.

Still say that if ISU were in the Big X, they'd have had a winning season.

at this point, who would even be feasible coaches to hire? assume, we scratch up the cash to buy out rhoads - certainly won't have much left at that point to offer a fat deal to someone else, let alone pay their buyout at their current school. In hindsight, the extension was a MASSIVE mistake. However, I won't fault Pollard, as it looked like a smart move at the time - people were excited and the program looked like it was poised to take another step. We simply locked up the guy we thought was the answer - apparently he is not.

If we lose out, I don't think I can stomach a ticket increase & Rhoads still our HC next year. Would probably pass on tickets.

And, there are intangible costs (I'm guessing) to either keeping or releasing CPR. If there are invisible costs, I can't identify them clearly and, thus, can't measure them, either. Fan morale is one example of an intangible cost, I'd think. How to measure its impact on the program and the athletics department overall, I don't know.

Lots of factors, likely, that maybe we everyday fans can't yet put a finger on. But one thing for sure, a losing program that's clearly in serious decline is costly. If CPR stays or goes, we will pay a price of some sort.
