This might have already been covered, but whatever. To those saying if we can't fill it this weekend, then our stadium is too big for our fans. The effects of this season's momentum won't be felt until next season's ticket sales.

Iowa State football games still aren't a priority for many of our fringe fans. I know several ISU "fans" that don't really watch the football team. They would if we gave them any reason to. They're likely to watch on TV this Saturday, but their plans have been made for weeks, if not months.

The stadium expansion was built on the idea of establishing a relevant football program. We're still in the very early stages of that process. If we put together two bowl seasons and keep the same staff, we'll start to see weekly sellouts.

it looks like the majority of the unsold tickets are actually TCU's allotment. So I'm guessing the Jack will look soldout on TV because the visiting section isn't shown on TV.

ReplyBuy just sent out text for $30 tickets in lower level section 23-25. I can't believe this game isn't sold out. It really pisses me off that it isn't. We can get 19k down to KC for basketball but we can't get 61k at home for a winnable top 5 team when we are ranked for the first time in 12 years after winning 11 games total the past 4 years?! Sorry, rant over.

Mostly the weather is keeping people away. Cold and a chance of snow. I know my wife and mother wont be going because they both hate the cold. Not a big deal man lol.

Compared to most Power 5 schools, Iowa State's core fanbase is small and intensely loyal. The core that goes to KC, which is bigger than what most schools send to something like that, will be in the Jack, but most schools also have more casual fans who actually go to football games.

I think you’re overestimating a lot of P5 fanbases. Compared to some it’s small. Casual fans need some wins, a little lead time, and decent weather. It’s been rare we’ve had those.

I think you are right. Iowa State's football fanbase is probably about median in the Big 12 in size and well above that in loyalty. Big 12 fanbases on the whole do not compare well to the SEC or Big Ten which is what I had in my mind. The Big Ten has enormous alumni bases due to enormous schools and the SEC is mostly cultural with college football being the #1 thing to talk about/watch/go see on Saturdays in those states. But the Big 12 is more like the Pac-12 and the ACC in that regard and probably better on the whole than those two.

Dude calm down..it's only Tuesday. Jamie Pollard said on the air today that most of the seats that are unsold is the upper deck returned allotment from TCU (not in view of the TV cameras by the way).

You're forgetting what it's like to be a student and see a $140 price tag for something, methinks.

We do pretty good, regardless.

I don’t buy the $140 being the reason it isn’t filled

Maybe I was too intoxicated or never looked up but I could swear the student sections was mostly filled. (2007-2011)

Then that's plenty more tickets for ISU fans to purchase!
