CenturyLink doesn't provide a way to check this. They don't charge for overages...yet...but we haven't gotten any nastygrams from them.

According to Netflix an hour of HD stream from them uses about 3 GB of data. There's 744 hours in a 31-day month; you would end up at 2.2 TB of data streaming Netflix all day in a month. 4K streams will use more, but I really doubt you have anything to worry about.
Yeah I'd probably be OK. Even if I watched 12 hours a day -- which is a dream of mine -- I wouldn't come close to 2TB.

On CenturyLink's crappy 5 Mbps package we only get 300 GB of data. I asked Customer Service about it when I signed up and they basically told me to ignore it as they won't do anything about higher data usage unless you are "an abuser of the system."

I also found this on CL's website which confirms it:
http://www.centurylink.com/help/index.php?assetid=317

That page is for their customers in Yakima, WA where they're "trialing" overage charges. By the time they get this out nationwide, I'd expect the limit to be 1 TB plus. Their excessive use policy is something like 250GB for anything over 1.5MB, but we've never gotten a letter about it

So does anybody have any response on the ability to watch sports after they air, or is that just live?

Also, you don't get locals? I thought Vue came with ABC/CBS/NBC/Fox?

So we officially cut the cord a week ago and haven't been negatively impacted yet. I bought a Fire TV and we've been using PS Vue for a few days and its been great - even on a 5 Mbps internet connection. No buffering and great picture quality. Only thing I've noticed is that the ID channel sound sometimes lags over video so people's mouths don't match the sound. Haven't watched much sports since we at the football game this weekend and gone most of the rest of it. I plan on purchasing the NFL Redzone channel before Sunday.

I need to work on the OTA antenna placement because I'm only getting 8, 11, and 13 (even though I'm about a mile from KDSM).

Super happy so far and saving $90 per month in the process.

Good info. With the 5 Mbps speed, have you tried streaming to multiple devices yet? I am on 8 Mbps and know that I will need to stream to two devices at times.

You don't really get to control the DVR like "record this show", you assign a show to "My Shows" and you will get access to a cloud recording of all episodes of that show that air for 28 days.

I don't have any sports setup on the dvr but it sounds like adding a college football game to "My Shows" will add all games to "My Shows". There isn't a tuner so it's not like you can't use Vue while one of your DVR'd shows is being recorded. They record the channel somewhere and then give you access to stream it. Seems like some channels have issues with getting cut off before the end, and I doubt they will handle games going into overtime yet

I would think the best bet would be to just watch the replay of the game on WatchESPN or FSGO or BTN2GO or whatever, but that's JMO.

Some markets have access to locals, Des Moines does not. As many other posts have alluded to getting OTA channels is pretty easy outside of WOI using low frequency VHF

That's the big holdup for me, not being able to record anything streaming or come back and watch a game later or "chase" view it after it's already started. But I have to think it's in the works.

Tivo has a couple boxes that combine local antenna with built-in apps from Sling, Hulu Plus, Amazon and Netflix. A step in the right direction.

There is also a wireless DVR that works with Roku, i.e. you access your recorded content and/or live OTA via a Roku app.

Plex just added DVR functionality as well, whereby you could watch live or recorded OTA via the Plex app on your platform of choice but it's brand new and haven't looked into it much yet.

We'll eventually get the product we want.

I'm actually going back to DTV. My Dish contract ended in July and I went with PSVue. At first I was ok with it but after a while little things started to add up. Hate switching between PS and antennae for locals. No ability to record locals. And as stated above, PSVue's DVR is funky. You just don't record the individual show you want, you record everything. Plus PSVue only stores things for 30 days. I figured since I have been gone well over two years with DTV I can get new customer pricing and since I have AT&T I have the option to lock in the price for 24 months. I just like having everything in one place.

Vue comes with ABC and NBC On Demand which allows you to basically watch the stuff on their apps/website. Sports aren't part of that.

I'm still having trouble picking up KDSM (I'm just east of the airport for the time being) - any ideas/tips using an indoor antenna without having to crazy since we are moving again in 2 months?

Yup there's definitely some concessions, but I am willing to work a little for $35 a month. Honestly I'd consider going back to Dish if I could get a similar package for even $50 a month but had the ability to buy the DVR and receivers from them. I paid $480 to keep a Hopper and Joey in my house for 2 years that saw no enhancements over that time (not to mention $300 just to keep a crappy old 722k for 2 years before that)

I hear you, there are certainly conveniences with satellite (especially with sports and DTV). When I called to cancel, they offered $30 off per month for 2 years which would have brought my bill down to $95 per month or so. Vue is $35 for the package I have and I'm willing to suffer a little bit to save $60 per month. At least now. We figured we could try this out and if it really sucks, we'll go signup with Dish.

Yep NFL Network is now live for Core and Elite packages on Vue (not Access).

So the Core package for $35 includes these sports channels:

ESPN
ESPN2
ESPNU
ESPN News
FSN
FS1
FS2
NBCSN
Big Ten Network
SEC Network
BeIN Sports
Golf Channel
Watch ESPN, Fox Sports Go, and NBC Sports app access
TBS, TNT, TruTV (for MLB playoffs, NBA, March Madness, etc.)
And now NFL Network.

And NFL RedZone Channel is available for $40 for the season as an add-on.

Do you get regional Fox Sports channels. Like Fox Sports Midwest?

Watch espn.com has longhornnetwork games. Use a psvue login for it.
I didn't even think of this. Are you sure LHN is included on Watch ESPN with a PSVue subscription? LHN isn't even offered on Vue so I would think ESPN would blackout this game for PSVue subscribers.

At the moment it's somewhat random what you get from the Vue app itself. Des Moines gets FSNorth (which is perfect for me) and some national Fox Sports Net channel that I didn't know existed. I'm able to login to the Fox Sport GO app with my Vue credentials and can access FSNorth FSMidwest FS1 FS2 FoxCollegeSports and the soccer channel

Thanks for the info. I want to cut the cord, but we play a few basketball games on FSMidwest. Since I am in AZ I find it hard to get that channel with cutting the cord. Once I find a reliable way to get that cable is gone.

We as in Iowa State? All the games are on the ESPN networks or Cyclones.TV. The Thanksgiving tournament we're in this season is owned by ESPN so the games will be on the ESPN networks.

I know Playstation is working with FS to get access to all the FS networks nationwide, I'm sure Sling (Dish) is having the same discussion. Regional networks and things like baseball blackouts are going to go the way of the dinosaur

I certainly hope so - signed Reds fan whose games against 3/4 divison opponents are blacked out.

Like others have said, your best bet is probably through WatchESPN for any ESPN networks/ABC games. You should get access to WatchESPN through your SlingTV or Vue subscription and they keep all games on there for something like a week where you can easily replay them. I do this all the time. The hardest part is that the game doesn't get posted on their website for replay until fairly shortly after the game is finished. Therefore, that means you still don't have a good option to hop into a game halfway through and then just speed through and catch up.

As for the other sports networks, they all have apps as well, but I'm not sure on their abilities to offer replays at all. Last time I checked, Fox Sports Go did not have any type of replays available.

My bad I meant football. Had basketball on the mind after last weekend, and yes I meant Iowa State.

I get a regional FSN channel, though its one that borders the region that I actually live in (so it would be like getting FSN North living in Iowa). But I also get Fox Sports Go app access with all FSN material available.
