ESPN has lost 4 million subscribers in the past year and almost 13 million in the past 5 years. Cable/Satellite is a dying model.

I have the Vue core package, and on the fox sports go app I am able to get all those fox sports channels. So worth a shot if you don't want to pony up for the elite package

Thanks. This is great news, Vue Core will be the perfect package for ISU sports.

I mean it'd be plenty easy to do with a couple screenshots, but I get your point.

I believe that you pay the least for your directv than anyone I've ever heard of. I still doubt that will be the price for the duration of your contact, and doubt you can cancel without a hefty fee.

But I do give you kudos for paying so little currently.

I am in the first 12 months, I believe it'll go up $31 a month though after that. I guess on average I'm paying ~$64 a month. Looking at the prices they have now though, I am unlikely to renew. I'm sure I'll look into this again once my contract ends, a lot will change in the next year plus.

I'd have to spend another $10 on Internet because 350GB wouldn't be enough as we already get close without watching a lot of Netflix. With the other 100+ channels that the wife and relatives enjoy, clearly a better deal.

But I hope you feel better now.

Look, I'm not creating a competition, just saying that if you would have started off with those numbers, you wouldn't have gotten as much flack.

I just responded thinking I was helping, didn't look into current DirecTV prices but checked the thread and saw how much the streaming prices have shot up since I started my contract and were now equal or more than what I'm paying. When I signed up I was getting junk mail at or around those rates every month for DirecTV so thought it was normal.

I didn't expect to have to defend myself about it so it was slow coming along, but if I wasn't getting attacked by people saying I only have 1 hardware or falsified a billing statement, it wouldn't have taken so long to get to that point.

Done derailing now.

Not sure how good of a deal this is, but Best Buy has the Fire TV Stick for $25.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/amazon-fire-tv-stick-black/9999119.p?id=1219460752591&skuId=9999119

I started my free trial of Vue Friday, and it's been less than stellar so far on my PS4. Not sure why, but my PS4 never seems to run anywhere near the speeds my network is capable of. I may try the powerline adapter that was mentioned earlier, but I'm going to try these sticks first.

My contract with Dish expires tomorrow so I'll be giving them a call to cancel. When I called last week to get my contract end date the best they offered was $15 off/month for 3 months...

That is a very a good deal but somewhere earlier in this thread they said that the stick version has a more basic user interface then the full Amazon Fire TV. It may be OK for you but if you want more menu options and guides, you may want to hold out for the full Fire TV to go on sale.

I think the Fire TV is on sale thru them too, maybe $69.99? The cost difference + not having to have a box is enough for me to have the basic menus/options. I'm sure the box would be better for a lot of people though.

Still debating what I am going to buy for the fall. I was strongly considering the Roku with Vue service but if that doesn't play nice I may consider the Fire TV. However, does anyone know if you can view Cyclones.TV with the Fire TV. I know they announced a Roku channel but I don't know if anyone has actually watched on the Roku.

Yep Best Buy is having a decent sale today on a lot of Amazon equipment.

I did a week free trial of Vue on my Roku 4. The UI is garbage but it streamed well. I'm planning to sign up in the next couple weeks.

I've never used the Fire TV, but I really like my Roku devices. I have two Roku 4s and a 3.

I'm buying a used Roku 2 today and plan to use it with Vue. You would think that the UI is a work in progress so hopefully it will only get better. My Mediacom subscription ends today!

I might just have to take a "free" weekend and hack one of my old computers into a Linux box. Get a Roku 2 for now and see what I can get to work best. Found a refurbished Roku 2 for $50 but still seems a little expensive.

I inquired about Mediacom Internet prices the other day.

50Mbps with 350GB is $60.
100Mbps with 999GB is $80.

We don't have CenturyLink over 1.5Mbps here.

If you are a current CL customer Mediacom does give a switch carrier discount.

When I signed up with them a year ago I got a promo price of $40/month for 1st year, $45/month after that for the 50Mbps package. Watch the mail & net for discount offers.

I do wonder if the 350GB will be enough so I asked customer support what it'd be to upgrade & they gave me the same prices you posted. Their terms also state that if you do go over, it's $10 for every 50GBs over your cap.
