I believe you are blowing smoke (probably from CO) up our butts.

We will be better but still max out a 4 wins.

I appreciate you trying to make us feel better though.

I'm in Minnesota presently. No smoke up here just aircraft-quality mosquitoes. And I earlier said 6 wins is the optimistic case, which it clearly is given the quality of this league and your OOC schedule. Worse case would be 2 wins (Ku and UNI, Hoax, or Toledo), midpoint 4.

Well I don't know how Athlon comes up with their rankings, but considering they compile info for & rank 128 teams on multiple categories, it wouldn't surprise me if they underrate ISU in a few of them.

IMO, I'd put Iowa State's receivers behind Baylor & TCU. ESPECIALLY if you're looking at top 3 receivers for each school.

It's a moot point anyway;

Neither the OL nor the running game as a whole will allow our WRs to shine. This offense goes as far as the OL takes it which imo isn't to more than three wins.

I like this approach.

I will adopt it and add the spread as indicator of confidence

Kansas -6
Northern Iowa -3
Iowa -2
@Toledo +1
@Kansas State +3
Bowl game +2
@Texas Tech +3
Texas +5
@ West Virginia +9
Oklahoma State +9
TCU +22
@Baylor +24
@Oklahoma +24

I'm calling wins in the first five, two more, and a bowl game win.

Idk if most of yall are extremely optimistic or just blind to what our football program currently is.

Or we know the circumstances of the last few years, know the talent level of the team is higher than the W/L column indicates, and know it's common to take a big step when inexperienced players have experience to build on and the whole coaching staff is the same two years in a row.

The FB team wins the first five games, beat Okie St. at home and go 6-6 for the regular season, then wins the Big 12's lowest tier bowl to go 7-6.

If Iowa State makes a bowl, they'll start out 5-0 and beat West Virginia to get the 6th win.

That TCU game would be absolutely rocking if we start 5-0. It would be nationally televised and we would probably even be ranked.

I want 10 of whatever the OP was smoking.

I'm not so sure what is so unrealistic about predicting 5 or 6 wins. Last year we beat Iowa and Toledo (and some of you can hardly fathom a worse season by any team ever than what we had last year). Is it REALLY that crazy to think we could beat KANSAS and UNI? And a texas team we lost by the skin of our teeth back to back years. We play them at home. That's 5 wins over teams we're very close to--whether you want to believe we're competitively close to them or not, it's true.

8 wins including a bowl victory.

Pessimists are shocked when 4 out 5 OL receive all Big 12 recognition. Brock/Daniel 2nd team, Jake/Wendell HM.

Improved D-Line and ball hawking secondary put us in the top 20 in turnover margin at seasons end.

Allen and D'V go off in the non con, setting up Q for a huge Big 12. Q equals his 2013 production of 9 TD's, 3 of which come from 30 or more yards. He finishes 2nd team all Big 12.

Special teams are surprisingly good, contribute directly to 2 wins.

MIH!
