Yes. It's just extra padding on the outside of regular helmets.

I mean, it’s not uncommon to have your best player do it. Might not be the regular guy, but he might be getting reps for when games are on the line.

Looks like the other guys in the image are freshmen Jaylin Noel and Myles Purchase. Far more likely candidates to back up Tarique, seems to me.
