(I know, another thread about it, right)

Throughout the Cyclone Alley threads I have usually laid low and not said much because I don't get to attend many games. While I don't hate the idea of an organized student section, today I witnessed something. During a timeout in the second half ISU was down 2 to Mizzou and during the timeout the student section sat down as usual.

That part doesn't bother me, because during normal timeouts that is expected. But ISU had just pulled within 2 and they played the song Jump Around. The camera man was panning the student section and there was literally 10-12 people that were up and dancing.

That, and where are the funny costumes and giant blow up heads that EVERY university has.

I went to the UNI v Drake game and even the tiny butt Drake student section had blow up heads.

I am not hating on Cyclone Alley, I just think they need to get a little crazy from time to time. You know, push the limits a little but.

1-11. I ask people if they wanna go to the game and they say "No, I'm tired of watching us lose." Casual fans are done with the team. Do better than 1-11 and there will be a better atmosphere.

This goes for everyone. Old people who never stand, organized student section, unorganized student section, upper deck. Winning breeds excitement. That is why the Baylor and Kansas games were such a good time and the crowds were so good. We were something like 14-3 or so. People were optimistic. That is gone, and you really can't blame the fans when the winning percentage is below 10% in conference.

Your grievances has been derived from the inability to win games over the past 4 years....Winning = Crowds.....as noted before

That really shouldn't have to matter. The ******* MAYOR is coaching.. you shouldn't need a reason to cheer. Cheer because you're a cyclone fan. not because you have to... my god talk about tavern clones

Did you go to the game today?

It is tough for a lot to take that though. I thought Hilton was awesome today, even though 80% full. Maybe I am spoiled for the lack of experience. But when I see Drake student sections or UNI student sections beating the Cyclones Alley that makes me sad.

There was literally no organized chants or anything energizing. Maybe their free hats got in the way.

The overall attendance today was pretty good, the student section attendance flat out sucked. They barely filled their bleacher sections up and it was painfully noticeably of all the empty red seats in the upper half of their sections. This team hasn't quit all season, its a shame a lot of students have already quit on this team though. These players deserve better, they are playing their hearts out with a short bench and their fellow peers can't even show up on a Saturday afternoon to support them.

Go to a Drake game when they aren't playing UNI, then look at their student section. You won't see one.

The ******* MAYOR is coaching.

And this means precisely **** to most current students, most of whom were too young to remember him even being here. I was 10 when Hoiberg graduated, and ive been graduated for a few years. I dont remember him playing. Add to that that the last time ISU was any good most of the current students were in middle or elementary school, and all current students know of ISU is that we've been a pretty ****** baskeball program.

As much as people on here want to tell other people to cheer, you're never going to change anyone's mind. You can't tell people what to do, and if you want to make a difference, join the CAC, get something started, and make a real difference. Don't ***** at people on CF for not being loud when you're doing nothing to make the problem better.

hell i'm a senior in high school and i know what it was like just by my parents telling me... that place was a hostile environment. Coaches used to hate coming to Hilton. Now it seems like it's just another place to play a game.

Probably because we are 1-11. Pull your head out of your ***.

i wasn't in the student section.
i'm only 17 but my parents are like wow.. this place is quiet compared to what it used to.. during the announcement of the players the place was rocking. They tell me you couldn't even hear the PA. wow.. guess that's what happens when you don't win...

so what you're saying if we were above 500 in the conference you'd be there cheering your *** off? huh

How do you not understand this? Yes, and the place would be full to help me out. There's no energy because we suck. I'm baffled at how you cannot comprehend this.

By the way, I was one of the few CA members that showed up today, so don't refer to me as a "tavern clone". I support my team, they are just terrible this year, and we never lead today, so there isn't much to cheer about.

That justification is only valid for long-time Cyclone fans. I grew up in central IL in a family that didn't revolve around sports (ISU or otherwise), and the first time I heard of CFH or "the Mayor" was when he was hired. As such, going to a MBB game simply because CFH is coaching is a moot point for someone in my position (and I suspect there are plenty of us).

You're spot-on with the second bolded part, though.

You spoiled piece of crap. Get a new team if you don't think this team is busting its butt.

You suck as a fan for saying that about this group of guys.

GO AWAY!
