Still two morons that don't have ISU ranked. There are not even close to 25 other teams with a better resume thus far.

Yeah imo it can be fair to question where they should be ranked since things are still up in the air but 3-0 is 3-0 and while ASU wasn't impressive, the ND win now looks pretty good and Iowa's fairly solid.

It won't matter if Iowa has any notable wins. Virtually every SEC/B1G team with two losses or fewer will make the playoff. Wins over Wisconsin/Nebby/Washington/MSU will be billed as quality victories and the P2 circle jerk will continue.

That's not necessarily true. Look at Iowa's schedule. They have two cracks at ranked teams and they've already lost the winnable one. It won't matter if Iowa wins 10 games, their strength of record will be terrible. The SEC is stupid deep this year, they are gonna steal at least on bid from the B1G.

Also absolutely no one respects Iowa and their awful offense. They don’t get the benefit of any doubt and are a national joke

Its nice to get to 18, but you see the disadvantage the B12 will always get. We are undefeated and beat Ark St. 52-7, while Michigan beats Ark St. 28-10 the week before our game. Comparative scores are not the same as playing the teams but you know it would never work the other way around.

Michigan beats USC who beats LSU who also gets ranked above us. It will be very hard for the B12 to get 2 playoff teams.

It will be 2/3 teams from the ACC and B12 total every year, that is just the way the math is going to work out. Give the B10 and SEC 7 to 9 to teams on a yearly basis. They get 7 or 8 teams in, then the ACC and B12 get 3, if they get to 9 than each like will get only the champion in. I suppose its possible that there are no highly ranked G5 schools left and then the break down could be 9 and 3. But that is not going to happen very often.

Way too much football to be played to worry about playoffs. The media started the talk early this year because of the new playoffs format. Just means the teams are still hiding some warts and missing appendages, yet to be seen.

You have also only played 3 games, and have wins against 3 non ranked opponents. How badly you beat a G5 school isn’t much consideration, also Michigan only won 28-18.

I’ve got ISU in the playoffs but feel like the ranking is fair. ND shouldn’t be ranked higher though, that’s a beyond fair gripe

I hate Iowa as much as the next guy but I feel like you are selling that win short.

Not at all it’s a great road win against a P4 team. But the fan base can’t constantly talk about how trash Iowa is and how they are overrated and then turn around and ask why the win isn’t getting more love. The more Iowa wins the better that game will look on the resume

Both of these can be true. Iowa has benefited big time from a watered down schedule for the last 10 years and has been overrated more times than not. Winning at Kinnick is huge on any resume.

A 5 play, 42 yard, :28 long drive ending in a game-winning FG makes for a good rivalry win, but…

A 22 play, 82 yard, 9:04 long drive ending in a game winning TD to win a championship and a playoff spot does make it look a little underwhelming by comparison.

Honestly wasn’t even going there, a win is a win regardless how it happens, but good call back

Some computer polls...
Sagarin: #18
Massey: #12
Massey Composite (linked): #13

Highest in the average is #4 (lol) and lowest is #32.

North Dakota and Iowa probably helped us out a little past few weeks.

I'm not normally superstitious, but I don't like all of this talk about ISU potentially making the playoffs. We haven't played a conference game yet. I still have flashbacks from 1980 when ISU was 5-0 and had outscored its opponents 179 to 27. Fans were throwing oranges on field symbolizing our hopes of winning the Big 8 and going to the Orange Bowl. We lost the next five games and finished the season 6-5. I'm not saying that's going to happen this year, but I like taking it one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves. Maybe I'm jaded as a long-time Cyclone fan, but I like keeping our expectations in check and enjoying our successes as they come.
One game at a time for sure, but I won’t believe this team is losing a game unless I actually see it happen. If there’s one thing Campbell teams tend to do a really good job at, it’s getting on a roll. Everything is still achievable for this team.

I would be surprised if they don't lose a game. There is too much parity in the Big 12 for anyone to run the table in my opinion.

I saw somewhere that 12 team playoff format was factored into the entire playoff era.

The SEC and Big Ten would have had 7 or 8 every year.

I think a 3 loss ND team would get in before a 2 loss ISU team that doesn’t win the Big 12.

Also, most 3 loss B1G/SEC teams would jump a 2 loss ISU team too.

I’m just preparing myself for the Big 12 to get screwed as usual.
The Big12 was going to get screwed the minute Texas and Oklahoma left for the SEC. It just had to play out...and is still playing out.

You ain't the boss of me!
If they win, they win. If they lose, they lose. But I don't have to cheer for them, sadly, happily, or any other way. :D

Friendly Spartan, are you asking for a good in-State Whooping? I'm not sure we can ever root for Iowa.

Next question.
