I ref high school football here in Iowa and usually I'm doing 8 man/A/1A/2A games throughout the season. Small town Iowa fans are rough. Plus, it's a smaller setup so you can hear everything that's said out on the field.
I did baseball for a decade. My experience was that the further down in class size you go, the worse it gets. In many cases it’s due to the “fans” simply having no idea what they are even trying to say or no understanding of even the simplest rules.

Oh yeah, that's my favorite. I wanna run down the field with my middle finger high in the sky.

This.

looked at their schedule, Dallas had 3 wins vs teams that made the playoffs and 2 of those were from beating Philly twice. Niners had to play 4 games against quality competition from within conference in LAR and Arz plus had games vs Cincy, GB, Tenn. Going against Dallas was a piece of cake.
Heck, even the Lions had 2 wins and a tie against playoff teams.
But speaking of dumb, disorganized penalties what was up with the fake punt? The fake was nice and worked, but then the punt team stayed on the field? For what? Fake punt on first down? They then did a full team substitution and got delay of game penalty.

To say only one play caused the loss.... what happened the other 59 minutes and 40 seconds? Pure crap move by the Cowboys. Own up to the fact that you played/coached like crap all game.

I'm a Vikes fan in DFW, but watching the the whole McCarthy/Prescott/Cowboys thing has been rather interesting. I know from following the NFL threads on CF for years that a number of Packer fans were unhappy for quite awhile with McCarthy, and there was a lot of sentiment that Rodgers' ability and mojo often covered for McCarthy's blunders.

It is interesting, because during the press coverage of the Cowboys' McCarthy hire, it was often mentioned that McCarthy played a significant role in bringing Rodgers along, and that he would be good for Prescott. Perhaps it was the other way around in GB...Rodgers made McCarthy look good.

In any case, Prescott has alot of physical skills, but it also seems he needs a good deal of coaching. We shall see if McCarthy can provide it.

I saw this suggested on Twitter, but I think Netflix needs to do a documentary on refs. Even at the high school level would be great. I imagine it would go a long ways in getting people to appreciate what they go through, and beyond that would be wildly entertaining.
