I'm glad we got Heacock. It was Campbell's #1 choice, and he got him.
We should have been worried if Heacock wasn't the new DC IMO. That would have meant that he turned the job down and that Campbell didn't get his first choice.
It sounded like he was on the fence for quite a while though, so I hope now that he's made the decision that he's "all in" and doesn't get cold feet once he gets here.

Welcome Coach Heacock. I think Jon's style of Defense fits in perfectly here and his forte being the defensive back field will pay off big time. He had quite a few returning defensive players this year at Toledo and wont have quite the same amount returning at ISU. From the little film I've watched online it looks like mostly dime and nickel packages when blitzing and some 2 high safety look on long yardage situations. Should be able to draw up some great blitz packages that teams will not be used to seeing when playing State.
