Also... what's with the incredibly lame cyclone alley stuff we've had during the timeouts? Who can keep a couple balloons up the longest? Who can make a pedometer count up the most with their head the most times? Dumb.

I couldn't believe how bad the balloon thing was, but the pedometer thing? Really?
How could they possibly expect the crowd to have a clue what was going on. WE CAN'T SEE THE NUMBERS ON THE PEDOMETER!!!

So stupid, and just so wrong. Why????

That's a couple of executions right there. The CA things so far are just so pathetic.

Build a Burger and be done with it.

wasnt there for the exhibition if they had them there, but wondering if the burgers were stored under the water level? I cant think of any other reason theyd have this dumb of stuff out there this year.

We wondered that up in 216, also, but how expensive can those things be?

I don't think there was a CA thing for the exhibition. Right now, I'm pretty happy about that.

It was the entire "These seats are saved for our friends, and even though they aren't here, there theirs, not yours." exchange that ****** me off. I can get over it if there was someone in those seats at some point, but there wasn't.

That's a little different then. And wouldn't expect you to mess up your there/their/they're usage.

Nothing is controlled, forced, or supervised. Obviously there is some organization or CA wouldn't be there.

CA hurts nothing. A losing culture of basketball hurts everything. CA does make transferring tickets a little tougher, but the people that want to be at the games already have tickets anyways. CA is just a convenient excuse for people to *****.

I remember football games in the mid-late 90s when JTS was empty. There was no noise. Why? Because we were god awful. Now JTS gets much better attendance even on days we think attendance is crappy now. Why? Because we started winning more than 1 win per year. I remember basketball games at the same time until now. We won basketball games, and expected to win them. Iowa State basketball was a primary activity, not a secondary activity. Now, we haven't won a big game at home in eternity. Iowa State hoops isn't at the top of the list.

I'm telling you man, I was there every year of the transition. The last year without CA, the year with half CA and half GA, and the first year of full CA. The transition occurred during the Morgan years when we were an okay team, winning around 18 a year and making the post season 2 of those 3. The awful on the court product of the last 4 hadn't happened yet. You could just feel the attitude of the student section change. With all GA it was much more like the atmosphere at JTS. When it was split, there was the wilder side over in GA (which typically seemed to have better attendance as well) and then the CA side with matching shirts and crossed arms. Then they went to all CA and the air was just let out of the balloon.

I joined CA when they went to all CA because I wanted to sit down low, and honestly I had/have no problem with the couple bucks and the t-shirt thing that they did, but it just didn't feel the same. It really killed the attitude of the student section. You just can't go creating an organization that adds any kind of order or control to the chaos of the student section without changing the very nature of that section.

I don't know that killing CA would help with early season attendance issues like we are seeing now, but I do think it is the reason why the students that are there aren't as wild or into the game as they were before CA. I'm just getting ready for those anti-CA threads that will start once we get towards conference play.

No good has come from the addition of CA at all. Okay, maybe the matching shirts look nice on TV. But nothing else. I just don't get what CA offers that make so many people around here so adamant about defending it.

Hopefully they stop having the CA thing on the court permanently. Between that and some of the ads they throw up at inopportune times when the team is on a roll, it really kills the crowd.

There is nothing worse than the Delta Dental Smile Cam this year. Nothing.

The Pump Up the Pasta last year was bad, and so was the other knock off of it (Can't remember it right now...Planet Sub maybe?)

Thats the big thing... there really hasnt been much benefit other than matching tshirts. You can argue whether the negatives that people put out there are real or not, but really, what has the benefit been?

Tell you what, those stairs aren't too bad after losing 50 pounds

But yeah, you didn't miss anything with the promotion. I thought the game was pretty solid.

Get rid of CA. I was a student when it started but I already had been taught how to show up early and yell by upperclassmen, not some stupid committee that half the students didn't want to be led by anyway. The CACs I remember were full of kids who should have been GSB senators or treasurers of ASME, not the leaders of a crowd.

it.

This. I bet the first year CA existed 75% of the seniors were on the other side and 90% of the freshmen were in CA. Nothing wrong with freshman sitting low, but it sucks they learned how to cheer from the CAC
