It annoys me more than anything when someone brings up Wally's D as the problem. The reason our D struggles is because our Offense is on the field for short stints of time and then our D has to run right back out there. The biggest point is that Baylor won the time of possession for the first time all year against us. Usually they lose the time of possession by 2/3rds to the opposing team. Our offense did not help out our defense. With that fast pace of offense our defense needed some rest.
Now George is on Wally. He tends to drop his head constant and miss a lot of tackles. He has been a non-factor, imo, a lot this year. I honestly thought he would step up and have a chance at the NFL, but I don't see it at all now.
I think Wally needs to get his act together. He has had 5 years of recruiting as well. How many td's has richardson had thrown his way and gets burnt. George is a non factor along with knott. I think the Defense needs to answer just like Messingham. It seems like everyone just gives him a pass.
You tend to get a lot of tackles when your on the field a lot.The D needs to be better, but it's not near the problem the offense is at this point. In fact, of the games we've won with Rhoads only one or two were won in spite of our defense rather than because of our defense. Also I don't care for your opinion because you just called a guy who had 18 tackles yesterday and who leads the conference in tackles a non-factor.
You can start with not giving up 741 yards and 71 points. The offense struggles to get a first down. Look at their first 5 drives. Hold them to a punt, give up a TD, give up a TD on a short field (thanks offense), and give up 2 FGs. Sure it's not good, but it's hard to ask for much more when you're playing one of the best offenses in the NCAA.
Then look at our first 5 drives. We had one drive with a first down. I can see how that can start to get demoralizing for the defense.

You understand that TOP has been ~29-31 the last 2 game? In both games, the defense has given up big plays early when they should be "rested". This is a team problem (minus special teams). The offense cant pick up a third down, and the defense cant stop a 3rd down. In past years you were able to put some blame on the offense for gassing the defense late in games, but the last two games have been a team wide problem.
