Dendy "suspended"

I'm obviously missing something but the kid had a death in the family...I don't get it.

It's sounding more and more like an issue of not respecting the coaching staff and team.

Almost all situations deserve 2 or 3 days off for a death in the immediate family, but there can even be exceptions to this. I once knew a guy who made a career out of working the system. He automatically took 3 days off from work when his wife died. He was shocked to find out that he did not get paid and was counted as unexcused. The company actually had a sound reason for doing so - about 6 weeks earlier he asked for and was given 3 days off when he told the company that "his lady" had died. The manager told him that they would pay for one or the other, but not both.

ah great. another ******* 'I know something you don't know! but I can't tell you what I know' posts.

No, I'm not a person like that, I generally speak my mind. There are certain people that post on here that do that and it annoys me. I PM'd Chris my information and we mutually agreed to keep it off the boards. Since he came back from Christmas it was probably good that I did.
I'm not the only one that knows the true story, sometimes everything doesn't need to be out there to be read.

Yes i know. Im just saying if there were a major depature of players.

If there are major departures my thought is we use up schollies on transfer seniors so that when McD is finally canned for destroying all that was left of Cyclone hoops the new coach will have a butt load of schollies to give out his way.

I totally agree. If it was agreed to be "off the record" it should have been kept that way. We have PM for a reason.

Let's all knock off the personal comments and get back on-topic. Thanks.

Note to future Cyclones mbb, if a member of your family passes away, tell your family you can't attend the funeral because you will get suspended if you do. unreal.

If it should be unsaid, leave it unsaid. TOTALLY unsaid. Unsaid but hinted at is still really annoying. And so what if Dendy leaves. If McD is still here it won't matter if Michael Jordan gets eligibility back and comes to ISU, we will still be terrible.

No, probably only if you also disappeared without telling anyone earlier in the season, causing you to also miss a game. Taylor stayed on the team through three arrests; I don't think one offense would lose McDermott's trust and get someone suspended. I agree that family is incredibly important (should be most important to these kids), but I don't think this is a one-strike offense. The straw that broke the camel's back here was that he wasn't honest with Coach about when he'd return.

I don't understand what you are saying. He was NOT suspended because he had to attend a funeral. He was suspended because he wasn't truthful to the coaching staff about the details surrounding the funeral and when he could return.

Wake up. He played after he heard the news and he missed two games when he was expected to miss only one. On top of that he didn't give the staff enough notice to change the ticket which indicates he didn't give them much notice at all. If you honestly think he was suspended simply because he went home for a funeral you are sorely mistaken. I have no inside knowledge but I can conclude there is more to this than him missing a week for a funeral. If it was that big of a deal he probably wouldn't have played the KSU game.

I think it was more of a communication thing for Laron. Listen, Laron has all the talent in the world but there might not be a striving desire sometimes with him. I hope he stays and gets a degree more than I hope he plays basketball. He has a child now, and his chances at supporting and giving it a good life might be higher if he does have a college education, that should be the priority.

I agree about his talent and desire. He has the ability to have be incredible, but something intangible seems to be lacking.

Where else did Dendy get in trouble? I heard nothing bad about him until this "incident". Also he had to stay later because the funeral was delayed. Yes he should of made a call, but probably thought either way he would chewed out.
