Oh so you didn't notice all of the players that were removed from the team this off season?

So letting a bunch of players quit makes them immune to criticism for a terrible team culture 6 years in and for recruiting so many players with that attitude? And not fixing it until we went 5-19, with two losses to FCS teams?

It's a fair criticism. I'm sure they would tell you themselves.

You can complain, it's a free country...but when they start to make changes that directly address the glaring problems of the last few years and you then complain about that, too...it kinda looks like you're just looking for a reason to complain. Again...should we have gotten to this point? No...but for the time being, they're in charge. At least they seem to be correcting their earlier errors.
Like every off-season. Hopefully this time it is true.

Perhaps it's time to ask a mod to change your userID. It's got to be embarrassing having it as it is.

I can't do anything but shake my head and bow out at this point. I've already said plenty that would counter what you said but it's getting old and tired.

You want to complain so bad, by all means, its a free country, flame away.

I think you mean terrible team culture two years in a row, with last year being the only "terrible" one. The year before was just the beginning. Iowa State had a good culture in place his first four years. #Allin

Then it's a recruiting evaluation issue. How did we bring in a guy that mentally weak?

Well he was fine until someone beat him out. He hadn't been beat out before.

The funny thing is that one of the guys who beat him out (Aka) was challenged last year and he got it and is now listed as a starter. I also find it hard to believe the staff wasn't trying to motivate a returning starter in whatever way possible all fall.

A lot of guys have left but not many of them have quit.

I want my coaches to be able to

A) Reign him in
B) Never recruit a guy who wasn't talented enough to contribute despite being a ****
C) Figure that **** out before he uses a scholarship for 3, and now 4 years.

Rodney Coe is one thing, he was turning into a dominant DT. Cousin was never more than a rotational guy.

Can you think of a worse scenario for the use of a scholarship?

Obviously, the staff made a lot of mistakes with these type of players. There are tons of similar examples like you said.

Nobody said it was easy, but nobody should be saying it isn't the staff's job. They are responsible.

So what's your point. To me, you are making a solid point for them to get him out of here. Cousins with a good attitude was a valuable guy. Cousins with a bad attitude was not. Hell, Mutcherson (one of the most talented players on the team) was let go. I'm thinking you are just finding any reason possible to bash the coaches while internally thinking this is much of a loss.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Rhoads said he supported Cousin's decision to transfer. It is quite obvious that he is upset at being beaten out. And it was rumored that he quit the team and cleaned out his locker and announced that he was going to transfer.

That is indicative of a bad attitude on Devlyn Cousin's part. Sounds like Bobby Leath is actually doing okay and is not even listed on the 3 deep yet and Cousin felt he was not going to be able to work his way up the depth chart........or not willing to do what it takes to work his way up the depth chart.

Contrast that with the competition that is taking place between Levi Peters and Luke Knott. They continue to battle for the starting spot and support each other. And accept their role.......whatever it is......knowing that they are needed to help the team in whatever way possible.

Look back into Cyclone football history and you will find that in our best seasons, that some backup player makes a play in a big game that sparks the team to victory. Every player needs to work hard and when their moment to play comes, they need to be ready. This team laid down the last 2 years at times. That needed to be changed.

Good luck to Devlyn Cousin. Sorry to see you go. But you really just needed to man up and work hard and earn your spot back.

At least it's not a death blow to the defense like losing Irving and Coe was. We can rebound from losing a player who was beat out and cried about it.
