Do ISU fans have a problem with MU?

I know I may get flamed hard for this, but I actually cheer for Colorado and Missouri. Yeah, I can't stand the reason that Missouri left, but I'm still a Big 8 guy through and through. Despise Nebraska though.

A huge Pac-12 fan as well, so it makes it even easier to cheer for Colorado (except when they play Arizona State). If I remember correctly, Colorado bolted because they thought that Texas and OU would go, and therefore doom the conference. After Texas and OU changed their minds, apparently CU wanted back in the Big XII, but were unable. Any truth to that?

I've moved on. Big 8 forever baby. Screw Texas! One school comes into OUR conference and single handedly takes over.

Simmer down there zippy. I'm a Cyclone too. I appreciated the rivalry we had with them. It made both programs better. I loved it when they beat NU and OU in anything.

Sorry. Your Mizzou lovefest made me think you were a Tiger there Zipperoo.

I've always liked Mizzou in all sports. I'm a track guy at heart, but I always rooted for them in football against teams like NU and OU. As an academic institution, thy're in the AAU just like ISU (unlike NU), so they represent the top tier of research universities in the nation. For that they have my respect as well.
I never realized they were AAU too.

I never could have imagined that, either. You'd think a top-tier research university like that would realize that when you stab someone in the back, they might resent that.
I'm not going to blame the whole university, because I doubt the faculty was in strong support of the move. Plus while I can blame them from creating some of the instability, I don't want to blame them as much for the move because if the big 10 had offered us membership when it looked like the big 12 was going to collapse I would have said we should make that move.

I was Big 8, too, but when the conference became Big 12, I became Big 12. Thanks to the ship-jumpers Nebraska, Colorado, A&M, and Missouri, we nearly crumbled. They didn't have to leave, but they did. They abandoned us. That tells me all I need to know about them. You want to root for them, or some of them, fine. I'll root for the Cyclones and for my conference, but I wish only the worst for the ship-jumpers.

I really disliked Mizzou for leaving when it imperiled the Big 12. Now that the conference is strong and it is obvious that Mizzou is a horrible fit in the SEC, I don't really care about MU. Just an example of the consequences of poorly considered actions.
I disliked how their head guy was in charge of keeping the B12 together and updated, then he resigns, then Mizzou splits. He was looking out for himself and not the league when he had an important position.

Then you would have been no better than the ship-jumpers. And that's fine. That's your choice. Me, I like the Cyclones and the Big 12.

LULZ! Hardly a love fest. I contribute annually to the "all sports" fund here. I'm a graduate. I bleed cardinal and gold. Mizzou's exit was bad for wrestling, gymnastics, track and other sports. The Big 12 was better with Mizzou. Kudos to the SEC for being savvy enough to grab them.

It was a sad day for me when Mizzou left. They're part of the original "dirt kickin' Big 8 country." They were routinely pummeled by NU, just like us, so I always rooted for them unless they were playing us.

Knee-jerk responses to Mizzou-love amuse me.

I'm not sad they left. Good riddance to them and anyone else that has no loyalty to the conference. Mizzou was not forced to leave, and neither were Colorado, Nebraska, or A&M. Ship-jumpers all. Root for them all you want. Not me.

I live and work in KC, and most MU fans I know did not like the move. The few that did seemed to like it more for the newness of it. However, this week it really sunk into them, that the tournament they loved no longer included them. To top it off, it was setting records for attendance without them. So I kind of feel sorry for the guy who stated this thread.

I still believe the push for the move came from the other side of the state. St. Louis was jealous of what KC had with the tournament and the Jayhawks rivalry. What they really wanted was the same thing with Illinois, but when NU found out and showed interest, MU was left on the outside looking in. With egos bruised, and still jealous of what KC had with the Big 12, they went begging to the SEC. At that point, it was anything to save face even if it meant cutting off their nose to spite their face, or selling out to the devil.

The Big 12 has an amazing thing going with downtown KC. They'd be fools to move it just because its close to KU. As was shown a few weeks ago, KU gets the calls no matter where they play in the Big 12, so why destroy a good thing like MU did to itself?

It was my first B12 turny experience this year. Whe I was leaving IA I said I wouldn't go if I didn't have a ticket lined up for the game. I was completely blown away with the power and light district. It by far exceeded my expectations and am getting more ppl lined up to go down next year already. With or without tickets ill be there every year I possibly can.

To the OP, I have family that works for Mizzou and huge fans. They all hated the idea of leaving the B12. They were optimistic with the SEC, but were sad to leave. Fans do not control a decision like that. I have no ill will to any Mizzou fans, though I do like to see them loose now. But the B12 turny is a celebration of the B12, you should feel lucky to walk out of the power and light district with a MU shirt on, there are some shady fans from all fanbases. I met a ton of really good KU fans and everybody has respect for each other, you no longer have the right to wear that shirt there for 1 week out of the year.deal with it. Your players should not have supported SEC hats/shirts and fans shouldn't have chanted SEC last year. You affiliate yourself with the guilty party so sleep in the bed you've made.

they can move the turny to Okc occasionally, but multiple KU fans told me how impressed they were with out ISU fanbases traveling. And they thanked us because of how much their businesses/Economy benefits from us. Only ran into 2 bad fans while we were down there. Very impressed by the hospitality of the fans in the B12.

Hated Mizzou since the Big 8 days. I witnessed Norm going off on the media after a loss in Hilton, he was a total ***. The antics they let the Antlers get away with was total crap too.

In a word.... "yes"

I used to root for Mizzou over OU in football championship games ONLY because it was North vs South, plus OU would blow it in the title game vs the SEC anyways. Other wise, I didn't much care for Miissouri.

I mean come on, there isn't even a 'Z' in "Missouri" People can't even spell your own state right

You know that Nebby is no longer AAU. They are a better fit bball/fball wise to SEC and MU to BIG. Funny how things worked out.

Dissing people because of who they are cheering for is really bush. We should be able to do better than that. If not, don't whine about fans from other schools. Or more simply, get a life.

Mizzou leaving the B12 was unfortunate for my family. In my family, most have degrees from either ISU or MU so those games were always fun to go to. Not to mention MU would have been our closest road trip. Like others have said, the move to the SEC was about the bruised egos of the political leaders and not really about what the fans wanted. I do think MU will occasionally make a bowl game in the SEC but basketball is a non factor in that conference. Of the teams that left, MU is the only one that I miss watching. I also hate TCU and MU is partially responsible for them getting in.
