Doesn't this logo look really familiar?

I wish I could find the picture of the Hawk fan wearing a Southern Miss hat. That one was priceless

it's the high school's logo as well.

Still....

Same stink I have with Wisconsin and Waukee, and Oregon and whomever. iowa and USM I would understand but IMO (and it would seem the trademark office) those are just too different. Apparently iowa thinks nobody else can have a logo with a beak?

Nowadays, the schools usually work out a deal with the universities - not saying that's the case here - to use the logos for a small fee. Sometimes as low as $1.00 per year.

I know Urbandale has agreements with both KU and Miami, and while the logos aren't the same, it's clear they are based off their respective logos.

If we aren't using the coolest ****in' logo in the history of mankind, someone else might as well get some run out of it.

This is what I have read in the past as well. It's not even the Universities being jerks about anything. Literally, if you do not protect your copyright, it will go away. So they usually do strike a deal for some low amount, just to keep the copyright intact.

ISU doesn't use it, but still has the copyright on it. I got a sweatshirt for Christmas with the kicken chicken on it and it actually has a long disclaimer stating the logo is used courtesy of ISU.

I know that. But still, that is to cool not to be on a jersey. Heck I have it for my window sticker. I am a fan of the kickin' chicken.

I hope that they somehow sought approval.

But either way - I hope we don't make the stink that UW, iowa, Oregon made about theirs.

Seems like decent subliminal advertising to me. Not like an upper-middle school is going to make much bank on a logo anyway.

I don't think it's that easy. The law, to my understanding, doesn't allow for one to pick and choose. If you don't aggressively pursue every known case of infringement you risk losing the trademark.

You'd be surprised. Apparel sales are a huge fundraiser for schools.

How did you see that? Random.

Try moving up here and seeing that logo on a bunch of cars and thinking man, there's a lot of ISU fans around here with the old style logo. Wonder what's up with that?

I see EVERYTHING, I just don't comment on EVERYTHING.

I think the eyes are more downward pointing.....

Both images were from the high school web site.

I think an appropriate licensing fee would be for them to agree that any football player from their HS that is a Division I level lineman must attend ISU.

TRADEMARK not copyright.
