I feel like Nelson is going to be around a 10-2-2 guy. Pleta may play some or he may not. A big part of the success of the season depends on Batemon and Toure.

I honestly think 2 of the freshman need to be legit. Who’s our three point shooters outside of Milan? Do not say Jefferson and lipsey, they are not consistent in that regard. Honestly, I think we are pretty bad next year. Curtis Jones isn’t here to save us.
I dont know if I'd use the word bad, but I'm thinking a 6 or 7 seed and a 2nd round exit. Lipsey/Jefferson/Milan are good enough to get any team into the tourney.

I'm not feeling the transfers at all compared to the quality of guys we've been accustomed to, and the freshman.....well they are freshman in the Big 12.

I don't think this guy mentioned in the thread title will play at all. Every year we hype up roster spots 1-13 and then only 8 or 9 are any good.

No way will we be bad. It’s Lipsey’s senior year and it’s his team. Jefferson & Heise with a year of experience and Milan another year older. At least a couple freshman will be solid contributors and the transfer bigs will fill their roles. We will be better on defense as I think we have some dogs!! Oh and TJ is still the coach!!

Bear with me, years ago (2016, to be specific), I remember being at dinner with my wife. It was maybe early July, like it is now. I said to her, "I really think this might be the year. I have a really good feeling about it." If you were a Cubs fan from way back, you know the line. We all said it many times. But that year was different.

I've watched the practice tapes of Pleta. Also, did you notice, he is listed as 235 pounds at 6' 11"? Did you also notice he is listed as a FORWARD?? They guy crashes the boards! I think, maybe (just maybe), this is the year! I think we might be better than last year, by quite a bit, too. This might be the year we hang a Final Four banner, and I'm not just being a homer.

I 'Liked' your post because, well, what's not to Like?

If the offense stays hot (we all know the defense will be lock down) then the sky is the limit. Obviously they need to eat their Wheaties and stay healthy too.

We need someone to step up at guard and be a guy that can take over a game once in awhile like Jones and Gilbert did. Games are usually won or lost by the play of your backcourt. I think we'll be just fine at forward but that is a lot of production we are going to need to replace at guard with what we lost.

Yeah, very few teams will be building around a better trio than Lipsey, Momcilovic and Jefferson.

Lipsey is a 40% 3 point shooter when healthy(no broken wrist)

We need someone to elevate their game to All American status. The best teams have a guy that is best player on the court every night. One of our studs needs to become that guy.

Heise actually led the team last year at just over 40%. Momcilovic was second, then Jones. Granted, the difficulty of a lot of Curtis Jones' shots was a lot higher than those other two.

Need someone with that 'bounce' that may not have the best game but can go off at any time and get to the hoop.

I don't know enough about the newcomers and we won't really know until the season moves along how they'll be but an overall improvement in athleticism is needed for that next step.

Pleta is around 22 and has played pro for a while. I don't like what "college" basketball has become, but he is not like a freshman. If he can't come in and contribute nearly right away, he is a bust who will never develop. Defense will be different than he is used to, but having been on many different teams, he should be able to fully adapt by nlt mid-season.

He's 20. I hope I'm wrong but I don't expect him to contribute much this year. The pro league he played the most in was the 3rd tier in Germany, nowhere near D1 power conference basketball.
