I think finding the one and done works very with an already established foundation at the ISU level. Last year while not truly young, had basically never played together. Once you have a solid foundation the one and done can propel you to the next level

Yep Bingo. Hate to dig up ghosts of the past but Hoiberg hit the nail on the head with the recruitment of Vaughn and Diallo when he already had his core of Morris, Thomas, Long, Niang, McKay, Nader.

He would have taken both of them in heartbeat. Apparently outbid for Vaughn, and couldn’t promise diallo he’d be here.

When Diallo visited they had a book prepared for him on how they were going to make him the first pick in the draft the following season.

Players are always interested in 2 promises.
1. You will start.
2. You won't be asked to play defense.

Anyone else notice he does a funky little kick with his left leg when shooting a 3?
Alot of people do. The best way to defend it is the kinda bump that leg becasue the shot will never drop if you do that.

In a podcast CW did with Prohm, Prohm commented something along the lines of ~we could go two bigs 10 or 15 mpg next year~. Which I thought was... interesting. As of right now we certainly don’t have 4 guards worthy of playing big minutes. If we want to be competitive, that is.

It all depends on how Jacobson improves his 3 point shot and how Griffin develops. Those are the only 2 guys on the roster that can play the 4. Solo and Condit can't play there...they'd be abused guarding the perimeter and teams wouldn't respect their outside shot. I think that Anderson is not going to be ready to play major minutes and Leech is more of a 3 for now. If they could find a grad transfer wing that could guard most 4's, that might be a nice addition. Not many teams we play have a real post-up 4.

Last year, Barttorvik put projections up for next year/this year using known roster compositions, some model projecting the improvement of returning players and transfers, and another model to project the influence that incoming freshmen would have.

They have not unlocked the "full" version of their 2020 projections, but they are at least giving overall rankings and offense/defense rankings right now...

upload_2019-4-8_0-7-28.png

#33 overall
#21 offense
#55 defense

The defense stays the same, while the offense degrades. I remember seeing this closer to #15 overall a week or two ago. I assume they have updated it for the loss of Horton-Tucker and Wigginton, which certainly reduce our offensive potential next season.

For context, their teams in that range this year were...

#30 Oklahoma -- #9 seed
#31 Clemson -- missed it
#32 Penn State -- missed it
#33 Oregon -- #12 seed
#34 Saint Mary's -- #11 seed
#35 Nevada -- #7 seed
#36 Syracuse -- #8 seed

So I guess that project as a... slightly above bubble team, roughly?

I am not going to make too many presumptions until I see the above including more details and a finalized roster for the spring, however. We probably have at least one man who could be in the rotation (if not starting) not part of the team right now.

I find this encouraging, though. The #33 team in the country should be in the hunt for the NCAA tournament, assuming we end up with roughly that net efficiency as a team.

He didn’t have to publicly apologize. He did because that’s the kind of guy he is.

I feel like we're mixing things up here.

Prohm is 10x the human I'll ever be.

My argument is that Lindell Wigginton likely didn't see eye to eye with Prohm. My guess is if Lindell loved being the 6th man, Prohm would've have apologized to Lindell, as Lindell performed great as a 6th man.

Posters who think Lindell and Prohm got along all fine and dandy are just flat out wrong. Not that that's Prohm's fault, not that that's Lindell's fault.

Isu a 4 seed

Woof. I don’t think Lunardi has any idea that Iowa State lost NWB, Shayok, Lard, Wigginton, THT after finishing 9-9 and bring in the 9th ranked Big 12 class. Going to be an uphill battle to make the tournament. We are going to need 3-4 players to be way better than we all expect them to be.

We're due for a year where we overachieve.

expecting another year of .500 or below in conference honestly. maybe a higher seed 8+ in the tourney with another 1st round exit. sorry but not sold on prohm making improvements at all.

Think how much time you’ll save not having to watch then.

I dont see how we even make the tournament at this point in time. Wigginton and THT dont come back theres no way this roster plus incoming class as it stands makes up for that scoring.
