Disagree it had any impact on the 2nd half. We started with the ball and an opportunity to take the lead. Proceeded to lay eggs and dig a deeper hole simply because Baylor was flat out better.

You have to pay thousands of dollars, and then they let you sit in the truck. Quite nice actually. biggest problem is that those nerds don't shower every day. Take some vicks vapor rub with you and dot just under your nose if needed.
For anyone to say the terrible calls didn't affect the outcome of the game or weren't one-sided, they don't know what they're talking about. That's why the ISU coaches reacted the way they did. They knew how bad these calls were and how they were affecting the players/game. Most calls negated a big stop for the defense that had Baylor facing 3rd or 4th down situations that favored ISU. 3 of their 4 TD drives were aided in big penalties. Baylor only had 3 penalties called and one, holding, was meaningless on the kick return just before the half.
As for the targeting call, we were traveling at the beginning of the game and could only find the Baylor broadcast on XM radio on the first drive. They couldn't believe it was called targeting and kept saying it. Then watching the replay the ESPN crew talked about it several times throughout the game saying "the Iowa state coaches (or fans) have to be wondering where's the targeting call on Baylor for that hit." It has to be pretty bad when the other team's broadcasters say you got screwed.

He only would have had to sit out the first half of KU if his targeting would have been in the second half. The best time to get a targeting penalty is at the end of a half since you are thrown out for the remainder of that half and the next half. He got thrown out at the absolute worst time, the beginning of the first half so he was missed for the entirety of one game. Probably would have been marginally better if the start of the second half since it they would have only missed him for half of this game and half of the next game.
I think this “rigged” talk looks bad on a fanbase that has a reputation for complaining about refs too much as it is. And, many of the same people are the ones that 2 weeks ago laughed for days at the Hawks for complaining about the reffing.
Yeah, there were some bad bad calls, but that is football. The team didn’t respond the way they needed to and the better team won. I may be on an island, but the targeting was targeting by the rule – and how I’ve seen it called a lot this season. It may not be the rule that we’d like, but it is the rule we have. I can understand the frustration that a couple later calls could have gone the same way on Baylor, but we still needed to play better regardless.
You can say the refs gave them 14 points, but we also had 2 bad turnovers and struggled to get anything going offensively. Again, we made tons of mistakes in the margins – like every year, despite the constant preaching about it. The only bright spot was Special Teams of all things.
We have a chance to improve this week and get a bounce back win. But, our defense is going to have to be better disciplined against a strong passing attack and our offense is going to have to start playing more downfield and getting better holes inside for our run game. Right now we're very predictable and playing right to what the defense wants/expects.

Well they didn’t reset the scoreboard so I’d argue the 14 fake points continued to affect what ended as a 7 point game.
Who knows what replay officials saw. What was shown on tv broadcast was much less clear than that.
At least that image shows a TD (combined with video I have seen) and it wasn’t some huge “break” that partially balanced out Baylor’s fake TDs in first half.

Both things can be true of the game. The refs, especially in the first half, were terrible to the point that it affected the game as a whole. Does some of the breakdowns in coverage happen if Beau is in the game still? Debatable. The targeting call / non targeting calls should have all been non calls on both teams. The problem is if the stripes call it one way they need to call it the other.
The second half the defense looked tired at times and Hunter wasn't sharp at times either. Not being able to run the ball put more pressure on him as well. Baylor was the better team in the second half. They seemed to push the ball down the field more then Iowa State for most of the game. I was impressed by their O line as well.
I still think a fair shake of officiating changes the outcome of the game.
plus, extending their drives tires out our defense. Putting our offense on the field more often or earlier has the opposite effect, their defense gets tired instead of ours.
