Personally, where someone places their license stickers has no effect on me. I don't know that I would wish $100 fine on anyone for that.

I guess that unless you're in law enforcement it probably shouldn't affect you. But, if it is a part of your job to make sure people's registration is up to date I can see where this can be a big deal.

As far as the amount, it needs to be high enough to get people's attention. I'd guess that there's a lot more warnings given than tickets though.

Idiots who do that are lucky I'm not in charge of things...

Impound vehicle. Revoke license. Place in stockade in the town square with a sign that says "I'm literally too stupid to figure out how to properly place a sticker on my license plate".

and you can be stopped because of a plate cover that is partially or completely concealing the county name.

Just another way to pull people over and then check for other stuff.

Also a pet peeve of mine...

I just put the new sticker on my car this week...so...four stickers on top of each other. I'm thinking I'll attempt to remove the old stickers before I place the new one next year.

Maybe they just don't care.

I personally think it's funny when someone has them all over their plate.

As far as Law Enforcement goes, they electronically run your license and registration anyways to make sure they are legit and current, so personally I see no need for the sticker.

I've wondered that too. What's the need for the sticker at all? I don't have a sticker on my front door saying I paid my property taxes?

Which is a whole other stupid topic because my ISU plates don't list a county. Technically according to my ISU plates I am in "Cyclones" County which is perfectly fine with me.

If so, then why tempt fate. It's pretty simple, the instructions are on the paperwork that comes with the sticker. It's pretty blatant where you are supposed to put the sticker.

I do think $100 fine is excessive, but it's just one of those things in life that is so simple, why are you choosing this to be your cause to fight the man? In the end, putting it in the right spot only saves you hassles, where putting it wherever you want, is only going to make things more difficult for you.

Suppose George Washington had said "just pay for the tea, man!"

A year or so ago, they made me get a new plate for my car when I hit ten years on the original plate. First time Ive had that happen. Probably because it's the first time I owned a car for ten years here.

Just happened to me this year, too. It's actually new with this series of plates...while I never had a car for 10 years, I had the same plate for more than 10 years because of swapping it to a different vehicle. I *think* this is the first series of plates that wasn't stamped, just an adhesive label on a flat plate. So, where old plates would still somewhat show after many years because of the raised lettering, these are suspected of reaching their useful life span in 10 years.

Where is the county name on the vanity or specialized plates?

there isn't a county listing on the vanity or specialized plates.... which makes the reason: "we need to know the county of the plate and the ability to fully read the county name " another lie.

I was always worried that I would get pulled over because my old Cyclone license plate frames covered up both of the stickers on a Minnesota plate. I guess I worried for nothing because as long as I had those particular frames I never got pulled over for it, nor had it mentioned by Johnny Law.

I'm strange, I get a special feeling in taking last years completely off and then lining it up perfectly. Similar to all my light switch screws being perfectly up/down.

I'm sure I'm wrong in thinking this but when I see people with them plastered all over the license plate I make a lot of assumptions. Lazy, dirty, bad driver, etc.
