I'm strange, I get a special feeling in taking last years completely off and then lining it up perfectly. Similar to all my light switch screws being perfectly up/down.

I'm sure I'm wrong in thinking this but when I see people with them plastered all over the license plate I make a lot of assumptions. Lazy, dirty, bad driver, etc.
I do ALL of these things as well as make sure my light switches are down when off... Every house I move into gets that done the first week or so. And I have ADHD, so it's weird that I'm a bit OCD.

Which is a whole other stupid topic because my ISU plates don't list a county. Technically according to my ISU plates I am in "Cyclones" County which is perfectly fine with me.

And do Iowa pickup trucks still say they're from "TRUCK" county like they used to?

Also, legislating common sense is difficult, but some people are so inept. Just last week a pulled up beside a car in a parking lot and a 20-ish year old girl was standing beside her car crying. I asked her if she was ok and she proceeded to tell me that she was locked out of her car. Her car keys were in her hand. She held up the key-fob and pushed the unlock button over and over without it unlocking. I asked her if I could see her keys so that I could help, and she handed them to me. I took the key and stuck it into the door lock and unlocked the car. Her eyes widened like I was a magician. I don't know what we're teaching our kids in school, but I'm very scared.

Yep - and I just made sure you spelled everything correctly.

Also - I completely agree on the light switch screws being perfectly up and down. Bugs the **** out of me if they're not.

I just had a discussion on that with my construction guys on new townhomes that they give us. They walked around with a screwdriver to adjust them on the final walks.

Then this will get you. When I moved into the house, all the three way switches were installed where one had to be up and one down to turn the light off. Both up to be on. I flipped one of the switches on each set so both had to be down to be off. Except for the two in the garage. I've lived with them that way for 22 years.

THANK. GOD.

I often wonder whether those people are just that stupid that they can't follow the picture on the registration that says "PLACE STICKER HERE" (or at least use the common sense God supposedly gave them to realize "hey - the license plate that they gave me to put on the car already had a sticker on it - that must be where the new sticker goes!") or think they're just that special that they think that the rules don't apply to them.

How can we claim to be a free society when we are forced to place stickers in the box outlined by the government??? I have rights! Give me my liberty!

(for the purpose of this argument, when I say "government", I really mean "citizens/public represented by an elected government")

You're absolutely right. The Government cannot force you to put the sticker in the correct spot on the license plate. In fact, they can't even force you to put a government-owned license plate on a car that you own (assuming that you don't have an auto loan on the vehicle - then the bank that holds your title can force you to do that). However, that means it is illegal for you to drive that vehicle that you own. Why? Because you neither own nor maintain those roads on which you are driving your vehicle- the government does. And guess what - that registration fee you pay in order to obtain that sticker from the government to place on the government's license plate is what buys you that right to use the government's roads.

So let's sum this up - a government-owned sticker that gets put on a government-owned license plate that gets put on the car that you own which gives you permission to drive the car that you own on government-owned and maintained roads. Guess what - I think that means the government gets to tell you exactly where to place the sticker that they own onto the plate that they own if you want permission to drive on the roads that they own and maintain.

But yeah - keep complaining about how your rights are being infringed because they're not letting you make pretty little rainbows on the government's license plate anymore...

Seems like a good think to spend tax payer dollars on.

Well, it's better than Michigan, which seems to never force you to replace plates and you will see rusted out plates on brand new cars (but I think that's on the people too cheap to replace that plate when they buy a new car).
