After a quick review of the play by play, Iowa State ran 35 first down plays and 24 of those plays were runs.
When you have David Montgomery, 24/35 is a little LOW if anything . . .

Not all 24 runs were David. A few were Kene.
The point still remains. And I'd like to see Kene get some more touches.
I'm pretty sure you missed one turnover where our next play was a PAT.I can't believe we can't be more creative in these. So far this season we have run between the tackles on all but one turnover. The one time we didn't, TD. Is Campbell trying to make a statement by running it right at them?
Quite a few starts isn’t much. We start a redshirt freshman and a 279lb walkon that was on the scout team defensive line at this time a year ago. JGJ is in his first year at LT.
There’s no KO for the guys to rely on. We also ask them to do things they’re not naturally good at and make it easy on the defense.
He needs to hire an OC that will call something besides Minty up the middle for no gain on first and sometimes second down to. Easy to defend.
I'm sorry, you'd think we lost by reading this thread. It's easy to sit in the stands and watch on TV and be a critic. All I'm saying is Campbell and staff know a little bit more about football than any of us. You have to keep the defense honest. Not saying that nobody is allowed to have an opinion, but let's pick our battles. We won for pete's sake.
Yeah, we were talking at the game about so many runs up the middle. I was saying I would like to see more runs off tackle mixed in. The very next play Tech lines up on defense with a shift to ISU's right with the DE lined up on the left tackle's inside shoulder and no outside linebacker to be found on that side. I thought, "Look at all that room to run off tackle to the left side." ISU ran Montgomery right up the middle again between the center and right guard. I think a few runs off tackle might loosen things up for Montgomery on the inside.I'd like to see DM around the end a bit more. Not sure if the TEs aren't getting a good seal, or what is happening, but I haven't seen Monty lose yards very often around the end.

I can drink allot of Busch light anytime because it is cheap or I have to stay sober longer but enjoy the taste of some top shelf stuff. If you don't get my drift, I'll be more direct. CMC by attitude is leading this group for the long haul. Maybe, 'we will run the darn ball down their throats today, tomorrow, etc etc.
None of us knows what he communicates with them. We need to leave it go and TRUST THE PROCESS.
Just my Midwest opinion.![]()
This isn’t the MAC vs SEC and banging your head against the wall until you have a hammer isn’t optimal.I do completely disagree. I know this offense will develop only if the offensive line learns how to grind out yards. I saw an undermanned Toledo team eek out 3.4 yards on 24 carries against Arkansas and win 16-12. Threw 38 times. The throws got us the win, but the runs saved us from losing big. Just enough run play success to beat a more talented SEC team.

So, comparing our games to Toledo vs SEC teams doesn’t support your contention.SO? Why not, we need our line to be as tough as a hammer.
Don't get him started on that again. He doesn't think anything west of the Mississippi is Midwest. But let's not ruin this thread discussing it.I've seen you say things like this before. I have to ask, do you not think Iowa is in the Midwest? Because if you ask me (and probably most people on here) Iowa is the epitome of Midwest, and Ohio barely makes the cut being as far east as you can go without being considered East Coast.
Just my Midwest opinion (even though I live in Colorado now)![]()
My apologies. I was unaware that this was already a thing. Geography must not be a point of focus there. Ohio is the potato state, right? Or is it the gem state?Don't get him started on that again. Yeah, lets quit this crap! Lets go back to doing what CPR did when we got a turnover, we were a lot better back then!!!!
Do I need to say jimlad?
Seriously folks, we can seem to complain about a lot of things. If we win the game, I quit complaining instantly. All I care about. We could run 50 draw plays, and if we win, I don't care anymore.
