Not sure if this has already been posted but Fran doesn't seem to show too much respect for Hilton. Something tells me Gesell might think differently.

"Every game in our league on the road is like this one."

He also said that the Hawkeyes face a comparable environment at Marquette.

This should be placed above every entrance to Hilton. Bulletin board material for the fans.

Bring the noise Hilton!

He even contradicts himself, saying they have faced comparable home court at Marquette, and then saying there is nothing you can do to prepare the new guys for what they will face in Hilton. Shouldn't they be prepared from playing at Marquette then numbnuts?

Comparing Hilton to the HMO Harris Bradley Center (Marquette home venue) is idiotic. The paid attendance at the Iowa/Marquette game was 13,300. I assume the actual attendance was much less. The capacity is 18,800.
For reference, I was in Milwaukee this week and attended the Marquette/San Jose State game. The listed attendance was 11,800 but I would "Bet the House" that there were less than 4000 actually in attendance. Fran is either an idiot for comparing the venues or for trying to troll our fan base, which also makes him an idiot.

Coaches are paid millions of dollars not to shine a spotlight on things that could negatively affect their team. Downplaying Hilton is the way to go here.

The core of that group has played at Hilton as well as other hostile arenas.

I get he can't come out and say its a tough place to play but when you play games at Northwestern, Penn State and Rutgers be a little smarter and maybe... just maybe... don't say "every game."

Lesson #1 in preparing for disappointment: Always, always troll hyperactively noisy fanbases right before appearing in their building for a rivalry game.

In his defense he probably can't hear the crowd in any venue over his own screaming.

Out of curiousity, when was the last time he won at a big time environment? Like at MSU or ISU

Fran's teams typically play well on the road, FWIW. They've won at tOSU, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan...They even had a road win at Virginia during their great run for the 'ship a few years ago.
